I need help. I’m femme. Ive meet butch girl at work who likes me also. We have had some sexual incounter, but she doesn’t act as though there is anything I can do for her. If I ask….the reply is “i’m good”.This is new to me. Is it just to soon. I’ve never even seen her out of clothing. Nor has she seen me completely undressed. Please help with how to proceed……please…..this is killing me, and I certainly don’t want to scare her/him away.

This is what butch means to you. I completelyt respect that and often wonder why others can’t! I loved your definition by the way and I love love love labels. My girl is femme and I love all women especially butch lesbians. Our identity is important to us and I’m proud of that. Great opening column.

I was talking more about myself than butch/femme dynamics. I didn't make that clear enough. I'm farily large and finding pants that look good on me is difficult, add to that other issues of my body, I tend to wear dresses and skirts more than pants. I'm sorry about the confusion.

Sei I disagree. I'm a butch and I'm not going to wear a dress. It isn't a body issue, it's style and comfort issue. I don't know many butches that will wear a dress unless the situation calls for it. It better be a damn good/bad situation.

I agree with Ceara. I'm 100% woman. Wearing a dress doesn't make me a woman. Just like not wearing a dress doesn't mean I have 'body issues'.

I definitely consider myself a femme…pretty much the lipstick lesbian. Butch is a whole other world to me, I love showing my hourglass shape off!

I wear a lot of skirts and dresses when I'm out and about. That's more body issues than being butch/femme.

However, I'm not exactly one of those people who fits neatly into any given category.

Why do I want to hear more about you shoving a cat in a toilet??? I’m useless when it comes to the various lesbian “labels”…femme, butch, lipstick lesbian, chapstick lesbian…etc. Who sits around thinking these up?
