Ummm, Washington, DC, is nothing if not a city of compromises, favors and bribes. That's why I cannot believe people are so naive as to actually believe politicians when they make promises. Politicians may actually have the best intentions but they have to work with others whose views are not in alignment with their own, hence compromises for each party. It's foolish to see DADT as a betrayal. It was a step. So few of anyone's rights are achieved in one step. Look how much trouble we are having with the marriage/union issue. We should remember this.

I actually do not understand why any LGBT person would even want to serve in the military with its spartan lifestyle devoid of taste, style and privilege, but to each his own, i guess. I do not believe gays and lesbians should serve in the military because PEOPLE serve in the military, not their culture or their individuality. Ideally, when you join the armed services you leave behind traces of individuality and pledge your allegiance to your country and your leaders. Obviously being LGBT does not interfere with service in the military any more than being a woman does, so there is no reason for one to be dismissed for being LGBT.

I think we need to convince the powers that be that LGBT are interested in serving as citizens and not as rainbow-flag waving gays and lesbians. That's what they fear the most: the homosexualization of the military.

Well said. Rock on. I especially liked the kitty costar. Does kitty have a jingle bell? (5:19, 7:53, 8:47)? For real, though, well said.

Bill enable me and my husband to serve the army without lie about being gay. It isn't the best for us, but it have to do it at that time. So, Bill is not a disgrace. He just can't give us everything in that period of time.

Although I'm no longer in the Army due to some heath issue, my love one still can serve without his Gen. asking him "is he a FAG".

Obama will be a disgrace if he continue said he won't though out the Don't ask Don't tell without the support of the congress. He should show some leadership to us that he will give us the thing that Bill can't do it in the past time. That is what most gay man in the Army looking for, the truth leadership of our Commander in Chief willing to stand for the equal right of many. The same reason we go to Afghanistan to defend our right.

"How do I feel about Don’t Ask Don’t Tell? Well, f--- that s---. I think we know how the whole community feels about it; Fuck that. And it’s not a step in the right direction. And there’s nothing positive about it. "
I agree. Time to get rid of DADT and allow everyone who wants to serve to do so with honesty and integrity.
