Hi William,

Just to let you know (and yes--I'm everywhere...) I was speaking of modern paganism/witchcraft, and specifically that practiced in this country. After all, if you want to get technical, most religions practiced by tribal peoples anywhere are "pagan" and I have no way of knowing how they feel about homosexuality. I was simply talking about my experiences in the American pagan community. and sadly, yes, you can find prejudice anywhere, even there. But our "official beliefs" as much as there are any, accept all people as they are, and that included homosexuality.

Hi Karen, I have never found a coven that is "filled with lesbians." As I mentioned, my step-daughter is gay, and she is in my coven. But my first group didn't have a lesbian, although there was a gay guy for a while :-)

I just wanted to point out a bit of a more balanced view. Homosexuality is not always accepted by all Pagans. In general, yes, it is a good rule of thumb, but it doesn't apply for every Pagan. Also, not all historical Pagan cultures found homosexuality acceptable, the Germans and Celts, for example, used to see it as a grave offense and would sentence homosexual to death. Just wanted to point out that there is a great deal of diversity of views within the vague, amorphous term "Pagan."

I am a Wiccan and I definitely plan on posting about my teachings and why this faith has attracted me so strongly. It was cool to get the info from a credible source. I hope to help quell the ignorance around the topic, ignorance passed from generation to generation. Now I'm excited to write it!

Nice post. There is a lot of confusion out there about Wicca/Paganism. I find that even in the most conservative parts of the country covens generally are filled with lesbians. Just sayin'
