Hate Crimes- Open Lesbian Gang Raped in California

A woman who’s only “crime” is being lesbian was brutally gang raped in San Francisco, California. She was raped off and on for forty-five minutes on 13 December. The attack began when four men jumped her after she got out of her car, which bore a rainbow sticker, clubbed her with a blunt object, disrobed her, and began to rape her. When a passerby almost stumbled upon them raping her in the street, they bundled her into her car and took her to an abandoned building where the sexual attack continued until the men finally left her naked, and badly injured. Through out the entire attack, the men barraged her with homophobic epithets.
She sought help from a near by resident and was taken to the hospital. The Richmond Police are offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of these men. All that is known about these men is that the attack was random, and that one went by the nickname “Blue” and another by the nickname “Pato”.
Avy Skolnik, a coordinator with the New York-based National Coalition of Anti-Violence Programs, who is quoted above, notes that there has been a sixteen percent rise in anti-gay violence last year, and that was a sixteen percent rise over the year before.
Men like Rick Warren spew hate speech from their pulpits and forget the human costs of those that they hurt. They care little that what they say, such as comparing gays and lesbians to child molesters, embolden and empower those who seek to injure those that they feel entitled to, such as the very same gays and lesbians that they have vilified. If we are to consider Adolph Hitler guilty for the crimes that others committed, that he inspired with his words and gave them orders, then Rick Warren and others who vilify gays, lesbians and transsexuals are as guilty of the crimes that those who do the actual harm do as the actual perpetrators are.

Fine, you may disagree with Rick Warren, but do you really think this latino and black guy who raped this woman has any idea who Rick Warren is? Do you really think they ever listened to Rick Warren? I am sure Rick Warren’s supporters have a much lower rate of committing rape or hate crimes then the non-Rick Warren supporters. Why don’t you look into the real cause of the problem rather than bashing an innocent person? I would make a large financial bet that these men aren’t even legal Americans. Instead of focusing your hate on people like RW who are nothing but innocent, focus it on keeping criminals off our streets. These guys won’t be caught… there are probably no records of them even being in this country. The only way they will get caught is if they have been arrested for past crimes in this country.

I feel that we are all allowed our opinions, indeed. But it is not our right nor our place to persecute or condemn others for what they beleive. hey anon 2 when you start quoting your constitutional rights maybe you should know what the hell they are first. The constitution protects free speech unless it harms others, this is correct. But this means if the act of speaking causes or encourages physical harm or violence upon another person. May I put a plug in here for the Unitarian Universalist Church. It is a welcoming gathering of any and all religions, color, sexual orientation and gender idenity. See how different peoples can and do relate to each other. Gather information about holy ‘men’ from many studies. See how they all point back to the ‘one and only’. See people with the light that is in each and every one of us. Learn how to get along. We are all one. So help each other. Let each person try to find the happiness that THEIR heart is telling them. If someone makes you uncomfortable or angry, you should look at yourself and try to correct THAT problem.

OMG What is going on with people these days. I do not know how these heartless guys can sleep at night after doing that to someone. I wonder how would they feel if that happened to there loved one? I swear when the police catch up to them i hope they serve a long jail sentence for that. I have friends and 3 family members whom is lesbian and i would be beyond anger in that happened to them. So i want to express my heartfelt sympathy to the victim and i hope she will be blessed with her healing.

Hate speech creates a climate whereby hate crimes occur. Rick Warren helped to create a climate in which hate crimes such as this one have increased.
It also shows that you did not read this post, nor the top red alert, and really only just wanted to post in harassment because, if you HAD paid attention to the top, you would know that these men have already been arrested, and charged.

I want to apologize as a Christian for the people on this thread who claim to be Christians but have hate spewing out of their mouths. That is what is truly in their hearts, hate. God said love the sinner hate the sin. My oldest daughter is not gay but has many good friends who are. I don’t support nor approve of their life style but I love them. They know this but my words, my lectures, would never change anything. They are welcomed in my home and in my life just as Christ would welcome them. Remember Jesus said, the greatest thing is LOVE. It’s all about loving others. This kind of attitude shown here by Christians is exactly what turns people off to God.
My heart goes out to this young women who was the victim of this hate crime. My prayers are covering her. There is no pain on earth that heaven can not feel.

I, personally, don’t care if you or your religion accept my being a homosexual or transsexual. In all honesty, I walked passed churches which did not accept blacks as being people.
All I ask is the legal right to live my life as I like. That is no different than any other minority asking for their legal rights. It is also no different than any person of any faith asking for the legal right to worship as they like.
So, in truth, all I care about is my rights under the Constitution.
If your religion has no place for me, then that is just fine. I have no place in my life for YOUR religion.

What has always confused me is that when the most no-doubt-earnest of evangelicals cite the New Testament concerning homosexuality, the verses they invariably cite don’t in fact refer to homosexual behaviour at all. Greek grammar rules work the same way English grammar rules do: pronouns refer back to nouns. In one verse, the noun referred back to is ‘idol-worshipper’, which is not a synonym for ‘homosexual’ — at least in any language with which I’m presently familiar. The second popular quote references participation in the fertility ceremonies which involved group sex. It may be that the people of my acquaintance are particularly conservative, but none of them have ever engaged in group sex during a fertility ceremony or at any other time.
I think the saddest thing about Christianity is that so many of its adherents apparently quote the Bible without actually reading it. Or reading the Ten Commandments, for that matter, the first of which requires one to believe in God with all their heart, strength, and mind. That would seem to make it very clear that God never intended faith to be a licence to dispense with reason. As to Christ, he stated very clearly what kind of behaviour he valued: feed the hungry, give drink to the thirsty, etcetera: in short, the doing of practical good. Nowhere did he suggest that hatred, violence,and usurping the prerogative of God by passing judgment on one’s fellows would be approved: indeed, on a number of occasions, he said quite the reverse. Unless, of course, “judge not, lest ye be judged” and “I tell you, even he who says ‘Raca’ to his brother is liable to judgement” are somehow more obscure than they appear to be at first reading.
All one can say is that anyone who approves rape is not a theist of any sort, merely a case of arrested emotional development who enjoys spewing malice. And any Christian who’s more concerned with passing judgment on other people’s behaviour than with seeing to their own should definitely reread their Bible. In fact, I suspect that anyone who uses Christianity as an excuse to condemn or encourage violence against anyone is likely to find themselves in far hotter water than the people they’re condemning.
Then again, if I believe anything, it’s that God expects anyone who believes in him to act like a rational adult. So when someone proposes that the legalizing of same-sex marriages would result in people wanting to marry their Pekingese, I can only take it that they’re neither rational nor a theist — because neither a rational person nor a mature Christian would be able to make such a statement and keep a straight face.

I sit here and ponder what you have written and try to explain to you why what you have said is offensive. The fact that you saw fit to end your last comment with “a lesbian is just someone who has not felt the love of God” IS offensive to many Christians who disagree with you.

If anything YOU are a SINNER too and many Christians are going to turn away from this faith due to the embarrassing illiteracy that many of you have when it comes to comprhending the Word of God. JESUS didn’t even keep going on about this subject and too many of you are ill eqipt to even handle the Word of God. I GLADLY have placed my FAITH into an entirely different Belief and many of you Christians are sadly dumb as dirt when it comes to any issue and none of you speak a word in times when it is needed. To all the left behind Christians, please get off your self righteous piety. The ones who go to church ARE the ones with the WORSE sins and seem to not learn from the pastor or are taught by a demented pastor who has sex with their members and are running cult units. Never have I seen Christianity so degraded and misunderstood than in this 21st century. Remember Christiams, don’t be fooled because Jesus did say that to some “he never knew you”. Mind your own business if you cannot be an active decent person and pour out your prayers for ANYONE who is victimized in this way. I am not a Lesbian or a gay male, but I do not have any problems with this, the choice or reliazation of gender is simply not a good enough reason to maim, kill or attack in anyway any more than those who sin in prejudice of all kinds. I am tired of this don’t smoke shit as if tobacco has suddenly become crack and many of these Christians certainly have pushed this issue as well and to tell women what to do with our bodies. I am sick of all you inescapable rheoric which has nothing to do with Jesus or with anything scared. Remember, Christians are constantly attacked for their beliefs as well in other countries.
The Bible also says not to point at the speck in your brother’s eye when so many of you have a damn tree house and log cabin in your (this is paraphrased and if you are a true Christian, you know this specific scripture).
And truly for the sake of your GOD, STOP using the Bible and scripture as your evil soap box for unkind filth from your mouth, lest you find yourself in a similar situation for your beliefs. To all others, be who you want to be and let us all unlearn this hate and follow up with the justice for this young woman who was violated from these uncivilized filth. I am so sick and tired of reading about innocent people being attacked or killed for the freedom to be who we are or what we were born to be be it race, gender, or other…This is a FREE COUNTRY we all free to believe or not to believe; pay attention to YOUR OWN path and how you treat others. None of us are in the position to cast stones on any one when many of you Christians tend to be racist and keep hard working minorities from the right to live in decent quality homes or from positions for which they are qualified for instead of sabotaging everyone who is diffrent from you because many of you are neurotic and evil one-hundred times over. If you disagree with the way someone lives or the way your co-worker, neighnors or whoever else you shall come across.

Anonymous you are a total idiot. If God has given a free pass to men to do to women as they wish then He can not be the loving God I learned of as a child. Whether someone prefers men or women there is no just cause for the brutality these beasts did. And I truely hope you or a member of your family suffers such a deed and then and only then can you feel compassion for this poor woman and her family. Where I come from compassion and forgiveness are the ways of a Christian and the JUDGEMENT part is left to God and God alone.

A good friend of mine until we lost touch with each other was a man who had been raped. I am well aware that other people get raped too. However, by putting out this crime to our networks, we helped to get her what she needed to recover from the attack, and to help catch the men who attacked her.
As for your last statement. I might ask you to really consider just how different your opinions on religion are from mine. I, personally, feel that any god, deity or supreme being who qualifies their love is not worth bothering with. I also feel that any zealot who is out there preaching intolerance knows neither their own religion nor the love of the god that they claim to worship.
Given how many words have been written debating the Bible and how much blood has been spilled in the name of Christianity, I might want to caution you about the nature of faith.
Unfortunately, you have managed to, in one statement, insult many faithful Christian gays and lesbians. And your attitudes, or at least the ones expressed by others like you, have driven many, many more into pure hatred of your faith.

MICHELLE I am deeply sorry to hear about this lesbian who was gang raped;but all females must understand that not only LESBIANS fall victim to RAPE;even males get raped.Never think it cannot happen to you;you must think wisely and live wisely.This present world is full of fools,persons who choose to live foolishly and expect the LAWS of WISDOM to govern them.A rapist is a fool and a lesbian is also a fool.A three year old child who gets raped is not a fool,but a victim.Any person who knows about rape and do not protect them is not a victim,but a fool.I protect myself but praying to the GOD who was with daniel in the lion’s den.Daniel lived by the laws of wisdom.So my advice to all the fools is that they become like daniel and understand that this present world is a lion’s den.Do not become a victim but become a victor. I am appalled with this story. These men need to be hung by their balls and bitch slapped til they die. No One and I mean No One should be put through this horrific act. I know if I was there, I would have done every thing I could to get those guys out of there. I am a white 49 year old wife and mother and just happen to have a 24 year old gay son and I would be horrified if something like this happened to him. I would do what ever I could to make sure these Pigs got Life in Prison or The Death Penalty…
I am disgusted that we are living in a world with so much HATE against our fellow Human Beings…. isn’t life hard enough to have to worry about your own safety every day. :^(

Well, if the lesbian who was raped didn’t like the sexual aspect of men before – I’ll bet she will hate it fiercely now. I’ve known many lesbians who had bad experiences with men early in life, and so opt for a purely gay life. When disturbed men choose to use their “tool” as a weapon, the damage can be irreparable as far as ever trusting men in intimacy.
