Christian Churches and Homosexuals Together

Homosexuals and churches have always seemed to walk on opposite sides of the street.

But according to Gay Church , there are over 3,200 “gay welcoming” churches all around the globe today. Nonetheless, the site warns that “all churches listed in its directory represent themselves in some form or fashion as welcoming Christian church (i.e. gay friendly). Welcoming means that the church does not view homosexuality in and of itself as a sin and therefore they would welcome and treat a homosexual person no differently than any other person who walked through their church doors seeking Christ.”

The Brazilian “Gospel for all – Christian Church” (Igreja Evangelho para Todos) is not listed in the site directory, but has been polemically performing holy unions in its Temple in São Paulo, for the luck of those couples who dream about getting married with the blesses of God. The church has been there for 9 years now and in the past 3 years it has promoted spiritual marches and camps and attended the Pride Parade in São Paulo last year gaining a lot of visibility.

Either Same-sex unions or even civil unions are far from being legal in Brazil, (excepting in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, where Civil Unions are allowed). Gays and lesbians sign a “ stable union” contract that guarantees the right to inherit each other’s pension and social security benefits, as well as to share property in case of separation.

Back to the U.S., proving that ‘art imitates life’, J. Kelly Poorman – a writer and taxi cab driver in a small college town– has just released a new book, “All the Little Children” (published by iUniverse), which tells the story of Robert Morrison, an openly gay man who returns to the small town where he grew up and is trying to to be accepted as a faithful Christian in his congregation.

Throughout the book he’s opening up about his sexuality and his relationship with God, a dialogue that may sound difficult to keep to many of us. “All the Little Children” seems to be a lesson on determination and faith. Poorman, who originally wrote the book as a play, encourages readers to stage it to community to show people the true meaning of Jesus teachings.

The book is available at: iUniverse, bn, and amazon.

    Hi,
i am a Christian Baptist living in Sri Lanka and thought of writing to all Baptists around the world of some needy people in Sri Lanka. as you may already know by now nearly 200 thousand hostages were rescued by the forces from LTTE terrorist in past 3/4 months and now they are in need of all essential things.
Government is supplying all possible to them, but still the world is also can help them with lot of things. If any one of your church or the church would like to help/support them it will be something what you do for innocent poor civilians who were hostages for more than 25 years.
    May god bless you
    Thanks
