Goodbye Dobson- Leader of Focus on the Family Steps Down

Dr. James Dobson, leader of Focus on the Family, has stepped down from the leadership of his group.
While he will remain an outspoken proponent of his version of morality, he will no longer be the leader of the group, nor its CEO. Dobson, who is 72, has been in the process of stepping down from the leadership of FotF for some time now.
The group is largely known for its political work as well as its radio programming.
During the 2008 election, Dobson and his group made headlines with television ads which were near total fear mongering. The group distributed a letter which, as a work of fiction, described how they believed America would look in 2012. In that year, they believed that “many of our freedoms [will] have been taken away by a liberal Supreme Court of the United States and a majority of Democrats in both the House of Representatives and the Senate.”
They donated around fifty thousand dollars to get Saxby Chamblis reelected in his run off.
Dobson and his group have been virulently against rights for gays, lesbians and transpeople. They are also against all forms of gambling and are ardent supporters of only allowing their view of Christian morality to dominate the laws of the United States.
In 2008, Focus on the Family had to drop over two hundred jobs and trim their operating budget by thirty million dollars. As the economy contracts, groups like Focus on the Family may find themselves with tightening budgets, and the money may also be drying up as the nation’s views on certain issues change over time.

A happy good riddance, and not a single soul that I know is going to miss him.
Thanks for the article, it’s nice to know there is one less of the originals left of FOA.
