Campbell Spencer Appointed To WH Office Of Political Affairs

President Barack Obama recently appointed Campbell Spencer to the White House Office of Political Affairs as a regional director, according to the National Stonewall Democrats. Ms Spencer’s appointment is not uncommon in that most people who work for a campaign are appointed to political offices. Sometimes, those appointments are purely for show, as with most ambassadorships; however, in this case, it is clearly a case of an appointment for someone who is talented and qualified.

Ms Spencer was Senator Obama’s national co-chair for the LGBT steering and policy committee. Her new position will put her into familiar territory where by she will be helping to coordinate and campaign for policy issues. “For those of us who know Campbell, we can easily see why her experiences as a strategist and effective communicator were sought out by the White House. President Obama and our nation will greatly benefit from her public service,” said National Stonewall Democrats spokesman John Marble.

While President Obama has not yet nominated an open gay, lesbian or transperson to the cabinet, he has certainly filled out much of the lower ranks of his administration with LGBTI faces. Ms Spencer, who is openly lesbian, will be joining the likes of Fred Hochberg who President Obama appointed to the US Export-Import Bank.
