The Laramie Project is a play about the death of Matthew Shepard and as the play tours the country so does the Westboro Baptist Church; a hate group that is well known amongst the LGBT community.
The Laramie Project went to Massachusetts on March 13th where the Westboro Baptist Church made an appearance as well. The community made it clear that they are not standing for hatred in their town; lining up quietly along the street in one town, chanting in unison towards the hate group in another, as you can see in this video:
At the University of Chicago on March 10th, the group was welcomed by a house of frat boys who mocked the protesters by dancing around to the song “I’m Coming Out” and more as you can see in this video…
The frat boys took the party to the courtyard where they were joined by other students who took the opportunity to raise over $500 for the Broadway Youth Center, which provides LGBTQ health services.

live close to buffalo ny. when plan carrying 49 people crashed and killed man on ground, we “the city of good neighbors” gave all we had to honor these victims in their passing. heard this “church” was gonna protest some of the memorial services. let phelps and his so called baptists come on down to the “buff.” just because he graduated from a Baptist ministers college or whatever don’t make him a God fearing almost human “Bean.” Their website is so full of hateful stuff that i can’t believe they’re “mistaken” for a CHURCH. These people are just scary cartoons; and stupid one’s at that.
