DNA is Not That Damn Important

dnaI’ve heard the rantings and ravings about how gay people and gay marriage are destroying society including the ozone layer and everything in-between!

The most recent rant by media moron Dennis Prager has me thinking “What the heck do the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts of America have to do with me wanting to have the same marriage rights as he does?” He talks about the poor children and what a shame it is..blah blah blah…

Listen Prager, my kids are just fine, and you know what, the fact that DNA is not shared between us means absolutely nothing to them or me.

I am theirs! I am Mama, plain and simple, and I will be Mama until the end of time! holding_hands_by_homarte-1Plenty of us have been raised by loving and very caring step-parents, which in turn have taught us to see that DNA doesn’t matter, love does. We should all take a stand and let anyone who wants to use the “kid card” that a family is first built on love, no matter what the circumstance.

Mom and Dad, Mom and Mama, Dad and Papa, whatever the title might be, just make sure its a deserved term-of-endearment.

I’m going to kiss my babies now, and hope for a better and kinder future for them and their children.

What Prager argues about is the fact that I should not be able to tell my children that I am legally married to their biological mother. He wants you to believe that if I get to use the word “married” that I will be the destruction of society as we know it. I am not foolish because I have stated plain and simple facts. He would rather I live my life as a second class citizen, not being able to be completely equal to any other married heterosexual couple. They get the word “married”, he wants me to have “civil union.” Guess what? I want what they’ve got and as long as I am a tax paying American, I will fight until we are all treated equally and fair.

Prager has NEVER argued against same-sex couples having kids on account of not having shared DNA. In fact, one of the most noteable aspects of Prager in public life was the “Baby Richard” case where Dennis furiously argued against taking away 4-year old Richard from his adoptive parents after his biological parents decided they wanted to raise him after all. Prager’s argument was precisely that blood doesn’t matter much, so you sound quite foolish when you try to attempt to ascribe this argument to him.

Prager would of course argue that children benefit immensely from having both a mother and a father, but this has nothing whatsoever to do with DNA.
