Waving The White Flag? James Dobson Declares Defeat For His Culture Warriors

462px-james_dobson_1James Dobson has stepped down finally from Focus on the Family and given his farewell address. In there, Mr. Dobson appears to wave the white flag of defeat. Whether or not he actually is doing that, and whether or not the Culture Wars are coming to an end is a matter for debate. Has the Culture Wars come to an end? Personally, I would think that it is waning in importance as younger people who are more comfortable with how abortion is legislated are less pulled by the divisive politics regarding that issue. As younger people are also moving towards accepting homosexuality, that becomes less and less of an issue with which to draw them in.

This clip from The Ed Show on MSNBC has a different view on this issue.

  1. We can only hope that Focus on the Family finds more mindful leadership that will try to steer it back into the right direction and help their parishioners to accept people regardless of sexual orientation. That’s probably not going to happen, but it’s an ideal.

  2. I agree Jessica! All things are possible, let’s keep hope.

I’ll believe it when I see it.

One of the interesting things I have discovered in private debates with a couple of orthodox catholics, is that they are totally irrational on the subject of gya people. And they always have a list of back up excuses, lies, and blame the victim tactics when cornered.

Nothing gets through – nothing. It is almost like asking the Pope to reject Jesus. Ain’t gonna happen, even if God appeared glowing in the sky, and heard round the world said that Jesus was just a good man, perhaps a prophet, but actually born of a rape by a roman soldier.

In a society where, just like parts of islam today, rape “had to be the womans fault”. And the penalty was to be stoned to death.

Which explains the whole virgin birth story.

Except for the Egyptian god Osiris, who supposedly fathered a child, and Alexander the great, supposedly pulled out of the forhead of the god zeus.

and there are other historical characters as well.

Never in history have so many good people been sold a bill of goods, about an obviously good man.
