A Lesbian Comes Out of the Closet About 9/11

053636dc63ee552d76db.jpegOkay, I’ve danced around it long enough while covering Cynthia McKinney. The reason I think a lot of people have a problem with her, is exactly one of the reasons she is such a hero to me. So I figure, I’m a coward if I just don’t stand up and say something already. Because I truly have felt, for years, like talking about my true feelings in public is dangerous for my health, freedom, and standing in society. And I can say from personal experience, that it feels just as bad as being stuck inside yourself about being gay.

So I’ll come out of the closet, so to speak.

Cynthia McKinney questioned the official story on 9/11, and has paid in popularity because of it. But she’s standing up for people who are serious about a real investigation, and questions that need to be asked.

The Bush Administration didn’t want a real investigation, and they were dragged to the 9/11 commission, which really didn’t answer my questions, and has proved to be far less than adequate for the scale of importance of what might very well be the most important day in American history. The day that changed everything, and led us to where we are now, and the Congresswoman is not alone in questioning the official story.

The Village Voice wrote: “It is a matter of public record that the government did not always voluntarily tell the whole truth about 9-11. In the first days after the tragedy, the EPA said the air was safe (see “Truth Out,” page 32). The Bush administration claimed there had been no warnings of the attacks. A congressional inquiry was prevented from discussing information the intelligence community provided to the White House. The White House resisted forming an independent commission, stalled on releasing documents, delayed in allowing Condoleezza RiceVice President Dick Cheney be at his side. Several members of the commission had to recuse themselves from parts of the probe because their government or private-sector careers posed conflicts. And in its final report, the commission punted on such questions as where the money for the attacks originated, dubbing that issue “of little practical significance.”

I need a real investigation of 9/11. Some people will scream at me for even suggesting it, I don’t care. I need to know why those buildings came down the way they did, into dust that is embedded into hundreds of forgotten rescue workers, and thousands more survivors. I need to know because the story we’ve been given doesn’t add up, and because that story has become the basis of so much American policy that directly effects all of our lives. If there was ever an event that deserved an independent, and thorough investigation, isn’t it 9/11?

There are lots of family members that want answers. And a 2007 Zogby poll found that 26 percent of Americans believe the government “let it happen.” A 2006 Scripps-Howard poll found it was more than a third. In New York the numbers are even higher with some accounts saying as much as half. A poll by Zogby said before the ’06 election that 70 million people of voting age want a new investigation. And a follow up in ’07 stated:

“Zogby Poll: 51% of Americans Want Congress to Probe Bush/Cheney Regarding 9/11 Attacks; Over 30% Seek Immediate Impeachment 67% also fault 9/11 Commission for not investigating anomalous collapse of World Trade Center 7″

And you can call me a lone conspiracy theorist, but I’m not alone, and I’m not talking about bigfoot, or the loch ness monster, or faking the damn moon landing. I’m talking about the questions that many Americans want answered.

The show Rescue Me, which is on FX and about firefighters, stars Daniel Sunjata, an outspoken member of the 9/11 truth movement. LGBT fans might remember him playing Langston Hughes in the film Brother to Brother about African American acceptance of gays in the community in the past and present. The New York Times reported that Sunjata was finally able to express his views on the show this season:

Time wrote one of the nicest articles I’ve ever seen about the 9/11 truth movement, even if it does write it all off at the end. It does focus mainly on the independent film on the internet Loose Change Final Cut (I never did figure out why that’s the title.) As a student filmmaker, I think they did an incredible job for a “bunch of kids.”

“For all its amateur production values–it was created by a pair of industrious twentysomethings using a laptop, pizza money and footage scavenged from the Internet–Loose Change is a compelling experience. Take the section about the attack on the Pentagon. As the film points out–and this is a tent-pole issue among 9/11 conspiracists–the crash site doesn’t look right. There’s not enough damage. The hole smashed in the Pentagon’s outer wall was 75 ft. wide, but a Boeing 757 has a 124-ft. wingspan. Why wasn’t the hole wider? Why does it look so neat?”

Slate.com also gave a little respect for the movement in this article:

“The most common conspiracy theory held by firefighters is that the Twin Towers—as well as a third building, 7 World Trade Center—collapsed not because planes crashed into them but due to a “controlled demolition.” On Sept. 11, an NBC reporter quoted New York Fire Department Chief of Safety Albert Turi as saying he believed there were explosives planted in one of the towers. After the attacks, the New York Fire Department interviewed firefighters to create an oral history of 9/11. These tapes—which were not released until 2005—contain numerous references to explosions heard just before the buildings fell. Firefighters for 9/11 Truth, a Web site started in 2008, says the government destroyed evidence that 7 World Trade Center was blown up and hosts a petition asking Congress to look into the possibility that “exotic accelerants” destroyed the buildings.”

Building 7 is usually the part that people have the most questions about. Some people still don’t even know about it yet, and that is found in polls to be a deciding factor on whether or not people feel an investigation is necessary. Besides the guys that created Loose Change, there are tons of different groups pushing to get a real investigation finally. Architects and Engineers for 9/11 truth argues against the NIST report, and physics-be-damned theories like the one that the towers could have been brought down vertically at speed into their own footprint by fire. Including building 7, which wasn’t even hit by a plane.

Pilots for 9/11 Truth have their own set of theories that focus on the planes’ black boxes and flight paths, arguing that the hijackers of American Airlines Flight 77 would have had to perform an extremely difficult aerial maneuver to hit the Pentagon where they did. Lawyers for 9/11 Truth conclude that the 9/11 Commission investigation was inadequate and demand a new one. There’s also Scholars for 9/11 Truth and Justice , which is bringing attention to the residue of explosive materials like thermate in the dust at Ground Zero.

And now that reports are coming out that the NSA has set up a special task force just to suppress and stop the 9/11 truth movement, I really am worried.

Guys like Glenn Beck call people like me terrorists and a danger to America. I love America you douchebag, and I would never ever do anything to hurt it. In fact its my love and belief in my country that makes me believe I have to push for the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.

    Hi,

    Surely by this point the only people who take a serious look at 9/11 Truth and conclude, “They’re all psychotic! Nuthin’ to see folks! Move along!” are themselves psychotic. Or, as deeply in denial as the Utah chapter of ‘Housewives for Liberace’ used to be?! :)

    So Jennifer, I too am a Lesbian Truther (TM application on hold due to lack of numbers :) ). You have my email -if you’re feeling lonely, heck even if you’re not- do get in touch! What with Rosie, Margaret (not strictly lez I know) and us – we’re almost ready to declare ourselves a movement! :)

    I really do feel like a new investigation is needed. The point of this article is to show the amount of people calling for a new investigation, which many people don’t know about. I understand you feel differently about the issues and the claims made by people on the other side of this debate, but why not help get a new investigation to prove those theories wrong?

    It bothers me that the amount spent on the 9/11 commission is dwarfed by the amount spent on Monica Lewinsky, or Whitewater. I mean, c’mon they put $12 million into fighting “drug paraphanalia”, and spent a large portion of that on putting Tommy Chong behind bars. 9/11 is worth a little more investigation money than these things?

    I personally think that people should have to testify under oath, and not in groups. I think a lot more evidence has come out, and not just the frivolous stuff that angers me as well. I don’t like being lumped in with the conspiracy theorists. I’ve been accused since writing this article of yelling “Bush blew up the towers”, and I never said that here, you see that. It’s not fair to sweep anyone who wants a new investigation into the conspiracy theory pit.

    It is possible that sane people want an investigation too, right?

I’m not trying to say I know what really happened, but I’m trying to say that we deserve better from our government, and I’m trying in a lawful, respectful way to get that.

    Methinks bjedwards didn’t even spend more than 30 minutes researching all the evidence in the contrary of the “official story”. The trash spewed in the 911 commission report = the official story (the one you questioned the existence of).

    Even corporate sellout journalists are not held to the standard you’re trying to hold Jennifer to. You either tried to overdose on blue sleeper pills, or are in the employ of the CIA or some other intelligence organization. Tell your boss that the cat has been let out of the bag, too many are awake.

      Sorry, BeZad, the term “Official Story” was invented and used long before the 9/11 Commission was even conceived. it’s also too bad that you are apparently unaware of the purpose and scope of the 9/11 Commission which is quite clear to those who choose to go to the source rather than conspiracy websites like infowars.com:

      “Our mandate was sweeping.The law directed us to investigate “facts and
      circumstances relating to the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001,” including
      those relating to intelligence agencies, law enforcement agencies, diplomacy,
      immigration issues and border control, the flow of assets to terrorist

      You’ll note that the 9/11 Commission was not charged with re-doing the NIST investigations.

      I thank you for illustrating some of the points I made to Jennifer. First and foremost, you illustrate my point that: “One of the terms the 9/11 Truth Movement likes to use – and it is the fundamental basis of their claims – is the term “Official Story.” This is a canard but fundamental to the existence of the 9/11 Truth Movement.

      You’ve illustrated all the elements about which I cautioned Jennifer: the -so-called “official story” a term used since soon after 9/11, mis-defined by BeZad, the automatic equating of me with BeZad’s imagined government perpetrators (“or are in the employ of the CIA… just like BJedwards’ boss…”) and never able to artuclate anything except pointing us to one of the nuttier conspiracy sights who BeZad chooses to give his brain.

      It’s particularity ironic how these 9/11 Truthers always fall back on the “just asking questions” canard. Just as long as one asks the politically correct Truther questions. If, like me, you ask questions of Truthers and their claims, well, watch out, then “asking questions” is not allowed.

    Sigh….The human mind works in mysterious ways. Jennifer fails to do some critical evaluation of what she is paying attention to, and fails to do any due diligence in paying attention to, and understanding, the massive amount of evidence against the claims of those in whom she chooses to believe.

    She is not alone. This is the problem with most who have first encountered “9/11 Truth.” Jennifer doesn’t write anything thousands of others haven’t written; she’s just repeating the claims – not the evidence or facts – but the claims of 9/11 Truthers and just repeats what she’s taken so far as gospel. “Tthere are questions that haven’t been addressed or answered.” Despite the fact that not only have valid questions been addressed or answered repeatedly for years, and that others are based on faulty claims, “facts” that aren’t true, and from people who have been demonstrated to be unqualified, politically motivated, outright frauds, or just plain nuts.

    And Jennifer has found a whole bevy of them: Cynthia McKinney, Richard Gage, Pilots for 9/11 Truth, Scholars for 9/11 Truth and Justice, and so on.

    No one is going to convince Jennifer Slattery. It has to come from herself. She is going to have to be willing to question what she now believes and WHY she believes it. She is going to have to ask herself WHY she believes the claims of a group of people who have defined for her what others have said, written, demonstrated rather than what those people ACTUALLY said, wrote, and demonstrated.
    She states, “I need to know why those buildings came down the way they did,…” as if she beleives this hasn’t been answered. How do you know Jennifer when it has been repeatedly demonstrated to the satisfaction of the world’s structural engineers, architects, physicists, chemists, and forensic scientists through the largest investigation (of a majority of non-government investigators) with the best minds, tools, and resources available? Why don’t you know that,and why would you accept the claims of Truthers who hold up a minor architect, Richard Gage, with no more than a modest background in building small buildings, as the best authority on the subject. Can you honestly admit to yourself that you have done all your homework?

    If Jennifer has a devotion to truth, then she has to question EVERYTHING, not just accept what a group wants her to think with.. She has to, as any rational person does, question those she now believes. Are the claims they make really valid?

    What does it actually mean? In reality nothing. But for 9/11 Truthers it serves the purpose of defining opposition to THEM as ALL coming from the government – and anybody opposing 9/11 Truthers are “obviously supporters of the “Official Story”, and therefore part of the enemy and “cover up” they are fighting. It serves as a wonderful out for 9/11 Truthers; any evidence contrary to Truther claims can and IS dismissed as part of the “Official Story”, made up and a lie. There is no propaganda term better suited for 9/11 Truthers to hide the weaknesses and invalidity of their claims then that one.

    Jennifer has to be willing to think critically and question things like that. What exactly is the “Official Story” and why is it a “story?” In fact, no real definition exists because 9/11 Truthers made it up. In reality, there are only hundreds of lines of independent evidence from thousands of different and disconnected sources and people that converge on the conclusion of what actually happened – and that which 9/11 Truthers have not been able to refute. Instead, they insist the have “questions” and claim they “are just asking questions” while claiming that “9/11 was an inside job” and never accepting answers inconvenient to them. 9/11 Truthers have never been able to actually refute the multiple lines of evidence that make up what happened. They can only try to convince people that “something doesn’t add up.”

    What have these people accomplished in the almost 8 years since 9/11? Have they actually presented any evidence they claim they have? Are they prevented from doing so? No, accept for those exercising their right to free speech on many forums and in newspapers as they claim they have no right to free speech. Where are the court cases that should have long-since been filed if all of their so-called “evidence” is so strong?

    Don’t accept my word for it, Jennifer. You only owe it to yourself to question what you hear and read – all of it. It means thinking logically and critically and that requires time, hard work, reading sources to see what is ACTUALLY said rather than the claims about them you have repeated from truthers, and questionning your own beliefs and assumptions.

    The choice is entirely yours.

      There is no “Official Story”? There is no new evidence?? You are definitely not paying attention, but like you say, “the choice is yours”. Remain ignorant and brainwashed if you wish, but maybe sometime you’ll actually read a post like this, instead of rushing to the comments section.

      Sorry, Mike, I’ve heard it all since I started debunking 9/11 Truthers back in January 2002. You’ve said absolutely nothing other than to claim you are right and anyone else not agreeing with you is “ignorant and brainwashed.”

      I think Jennifer will see right through that.

      I think you need to ponder and realize that 9/11 is a controlled demolition, a false flag operation. Per irrefutable, conclusive scientific evidence, and per common sense.

      High explosive nano thermite was found in the pyroclastic cloud of WTC, into which buildings pulverized, imploding with a speed of close to free fall, 10 floors per second.
      WTC 7 is a classic controlled demolition.
      Who, when and how set the explosives? And, what explosives?

      For the sake of the country, for the sake of strategic interests, it is better to understand, to recognize the truth. Because that is the source of strength.

    ” On June 16th and June 17th, family members who lost loved ones to terrorist acts were invited by the Obama administration’s Department of Justice (DOJ) to voice their concerns and opinions about justice for the victims. Unfortunately, the family members left the meetings feeling frustrated and helpless. NewMajority.com interviewed some of the families who stated that, although the DOJ meant well, their motives and methods were insensitive.

    President Obama has spoken in the past about accountability and transparency; yet, those attending were not granted simple requests such as having the meeting recorded, receiving a list of those present, and being able to pass out a military commissions comparison chart. Bob Hemenway, who lost a son at the Pentagon, summarized the feelings of all interviewed by stating the meeting was “a set-up. It was a political ploy. We were pawns. What a waste. We were a show case. It was a farce.”

      from the link it is apparent that these victim’s families perhaps do not know and do not understand that 9/11 is a controlled demolition, an inside false flag operation.

      They came into that meeting with a message that they “support keeping torture-like camp Guantanamo opened and military court processes with terrorists going”.

      They do not like Democrats being in the meeting with them.

      Interesting turn of events, isn’t it right?

    This article is simply incredible. You touched on so many important facts while keeping your voice strong and pure. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for speaking out on this issue. I sincerely appreciate it. All battles against injustice, from gay rights to 9/11 Truth, are all part of the same struggle. We are all allies, but are polarized by society and the media into thinking we are not.

    Thank you Jennifer for this post, and congratulations on facing another fear! I too am very concerned about getting a real investigation into the events of 911. There has been so much overwhelming evidence that proves the “official story ” is totally impossible, that it warrants a real investigation. The official story has caused us to invade three countries, lose many of our constitutional rights, and cause us to devastate many peoples lives, which has caused us to become less safe then ever. For people just learning about some of these facts for the first time, PLEASE research for yourself the massive amount of evidence that has been discovered over the last 8 years, then join us in demanding a Real Investigation, with subpoena power, and let’s get to the bottom of this. The people responsible need to be held accountable! Thanks Jennifer for making people aware of this important information.
