Choice Hotels Humanitarian Award

08/23/09-by Mary Catherine Benge
800px-ClarionHotelHamdenChoice Hotels, a company that provides easy access to discounted hotel rooms, held their annual Extraordinary Performance awards meeting recently. One of the most outstanding awards, Choice Hotels Humanitarian Award, was received by Christopher Arnett, a Brand Performance Consultant for Choice Hotels. He was awarded this honor due to his efforts in providing ways the corporation can give back to society, especially in the LGBT community.

A number of Christopher Arnett’s colleagues nominated him for this award because of his 12 month dedication to a number of programs. This includes Choice PRIDE, an “employee resource group for gay, lesbian, bi-sexual and transgender associates and straight allies at Choice Hotels International”. Some of the group’s goals are to focus on more coherent benefits and policies that are available for LGBT associates, to create communication among their associates about their efforts, and to endow networking opportunities at all levels of the company.

Christopher Arnett also allotted much of his time to persuade the Choice Hotels International Foundation, which “supports programs that provide food and shelter to those in need”, to recognize an organization that helps serve LGBT homeless youth.
Christopher Arnett has dedicated many passionate hours and efforts in helping Choice Hotels to become not only more LGBT friendly, but to provide ways and programs to help generate awareness and to eventually create equality for the LGBT community in and out of the workplace.
