Anti-Marriage Equality Group Wonders Why Should The Elderly, Childless and Infertile Get Married (video)

SEAL_IOWA“One might ask, why are you getting a marriage license anyway?”

That is the question that was asked by an Iowa Family Policy Center spokesman at a 16 September marriage equality debate with regards to not only the marriage of gays and lesbians, but of the elderly, the childless, and the infertile. In other words, the IFPC, a group associated with the National Organization For Marriage and Focus on the Family, does not want anyone who cannot have children to get married.

The United States has never based marriage rights upon the fertility of a couple either due to age or biological issues. Some couples choose not to have children, or do not have them due to the physical issues that might be involved. Some women could have children, but they would be required to be bed ridden through all or most of the pregnancy due to health issues. Often times, women who would have to do that do not have children.
