The show is a satirical, but it is also incredibly funny. In The WORD segments, Colbert often goes on a rant while, beside him, there is a graphic often going in a different direction from his rant.

Last night’s The WORD was about the ballot initiative 71 in Washington State. Colbert goes on to skewer the whole thing including pointing out how there is no country called Scandinavia. While on a USO tour, Colbert made direct mention of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell, and mocked the law. At the end of the segment, Colbert makes it clear that Washingtonians should protect the identities of the petitioners who signed to get this ballot initiative before the people by making sure that ‘all but marriage’ remains the law in the state.
