Sometimes You Pick The Wrong Fight- Two Drunks Lose To Cage Fighters In Drag

10/07/09-by Bridgette P. LaVictoire
Escudo_SwanseaIn The United Kingdom, there is a tradition of what is called fancy dress. This usually involves people going out in costume, and typically the costume for men is, well, women’s clothing. In this case, two men who were out for a fancy dress stag party in heels, skirts and wigs were accosted by two drunk men who thought it would be fun to beat up a pair of “queens”, to use the vernacular. Unfortunately for Dean Gardener, 19, and Jason Fender, 22, the two men they attacked were cage fighters.

Gardener and Fender both plead guilty to using abusive words and behavior, and sentenced to four months community service and a curfew between 7am and 7pm. Both were tagged electronically to enforce the curfew.

CCTV footage (which follows) shows the two men attacking the two cage fighters. The first, who is wearing heels, a short skirt and tube top, is confronted by Gardener, who takes a swing at him. The other fighter, wearing a sequined dress and long wig, comes to the first one’s defense hitting both Gardener and Fender with lightning jabs. After retrieving a bag that they dropped, the two fighters teetered away in their heels. The two are seen in the footage attempting to pick fights with other people, only to run into these two cage fighters.

Gardener and Fender got up and staggered away down The Kingsway in Swansea before being arrested. They had been drinking jugs of cocktails and cider before the attack and were extremely drunk.
