DC Mom Files Complaint Against Lesbian Teacher for Corrupting Child’s Innocence

A District of Columbia Mom is apparently upset with a teacher at her daughter’s school for telling her class she was getting married…
According to the Washington City Paper…
Margaret C. Hemenway, identifying herself as a D.C. Public Schools parent, claims to have filed a complaint with Chancellor Michelle Rhee over her seven-year-old child’s “sense of innocence.” At what exact moment was the first-grader’s innocence whisked away from her, never to be returned? The moment little Hemenway’s teacher at Tenleytown’s Horace Mann Elementary allegedly announced to her first-grade class that she was planning to marry a woman. Think. Of. The. Children…. According to Ms. Hemenway’s account…
Our first-grader astonished her father at the end of the past school year as he dropped her off at our local Washington DC public school, Horace Mann Elementary, where he had attended school in the early 60s. She relayed to him that her teacher announced her impending marriage– to another woman — to the class. Following her revelation, this teacher encouraged questions from the children.
Our daughter also mentioned a book the teacher read aloud, “Uncle Bobby’s Wedding,” about two male “gay” guinea pigs, promoted by the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual Transgender Lobby for children. Since homosexual activists cannot reproduce their own children, recruitment to their cause (especially at a young age, before parents have raised such sensitive and controversial topics with their children) is essential to the political agenda of promoting homosexuality and “gay” marriage. LGR did try to contact the official’s at the Horace Mann School and the District of Columbia Public School System to get their side of the story yesterday… Mann directed us to the DCPS HQ and Chancellor Rhee’s office. The Chancellors office has yet to get back to us with a statement.
We also went out to see if we could get an additional comment on the situation from Ms. Hemenway herself….
Now we are wondering… would this be Margaret Calhoun Hemenway we are looking for? … A 15-year veteran of Capitol Hill and a former Bush White House appointee, who served at the DoD in the capacity of a White House liaison for former Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfield?
Is this also the same Margaret Calhoun Hemenway who is a contributing editor for Family Security Matters.org, a regular Muslim basher, Birther extraordinary and daughter-in-law to the Birther lawyer John D. Hemenway who was recently reprimanded by a federal judge for his part in the preparation, filing, and prosecution of a legally frivolous suits involving President Obama’s birth certificate?
Is this too, the same Ms. Hemenway who also seems to have had a long-standing relationship with the Karl Rove creation, Swift Vets and POWs for Truth, the group that added the term “Swiftboating” to our political lexicon and gave new meaning to shady smear campaigns forever?
I don’t know… but an available address we found on the web would put a Margaret Calhoun Hemenway and a Margaret C. Hemenway in the Spring Valley section of DC and thereby in the Horace Mann School boundaries…
But if this is the same Margaret C. Hemenway, and since we are practically neighbors and my twins will be attending Horace Mann in a couple of years… I’d really like to talk about all of this with you if you have the time.

by the time children leave kindergarden they have already been exposed to families of all sorts, traditional and otherwise and are probably more comfortable and accepting of these differences than their parents are. given that, why would any resposible parent want to taint that inocence with generations old prejidice and bigotry? straight teachers routienly (sp) annoiunce their impending weddings and these are seen as occasions of celebration so why not with gay or lesbian teachers or their hampsters? gay is on tv, in books and magazines that these kids see and hear in their music, why would parents try to deny the reality that is all around their children with lies and hatered? parents, take a leson from your children and celebrate the diversity of the human condition because what you do and say now will influence whether your children will feel when they want to come out to you, should they ever need to.
Yes, children are exposed to all kinds of things by the time they are in kindergarten but turn the situation around. Would a gay couple with an adopted child want me as a teacher telling their child that they are hellbound for the lifestyle they live………it is not really my choice or my business to educate anyone elses child on such matters. Forget about polital correctness, forget about gay or straight supposed rights or even religion and respect the right for people to have their own view and instill those views in their own children——-I feel the DC mom had every right to be upset but that’s my opinion. The fact that children accept differences so freely is a good thing but remember it is also what makes them so vulnerable …..
The teacher however did not say anyones lifestyle was evil… she said she was getting married, like I am sure thousand of straights teacher have told thousand of classes before … and what has upset DC mom is that the teacher is not marrying a person DC Mom approves of

If she had told the children she was teaching that their parents were going to Hell for their “lifestyle” then that would be one thing. She did not. All that shows is that you are are prejudiced as this woman who is complaining.
As we a ll know teachers as other people in certain jobs have a responsibility to maintain a certain degree of neutrality on certain issues. or just not address them at all. it is not my childs business whether his teacher is getting married to a male, female or a horse………(saw a guy supposedly got married to a horse on tv.) and yes i suppose if not approving of it means I am prejudice against homosexuality then i am…….I also have my suspicions against anyone who isnt republican and social workers, Obama and the bailouts, etc but we can still coexist. I wish to teach my children as I see fit…..teachers should have the sense enough to recognize the touchy issues and steer clear of them at the elementary level………not just this issue …..all of them religion, politics, sexual preference. etc. If you dont understand I probably cant explain it to you but thats o k. its up to the court now……..and thats why my kid is in private school.

Can anyone give me the definition to the word MORAL. Here is what I found:
1. Of or concerned with the judgment of the goodness or badness of human action and character: moral scrutiny; a moral quandary.
2. Teaching or exhibiting goodness or correctness of character and behavior: a moral lesson.
3. Conforming to standards of what is right or just in behavior; virtuous: a moral life.
The homosexuals have their opinion, the heterosexuals have theirs but what is THE TRUTH and not personal opinion cause it seems both sides are very opinionated but lacking THE TRUTH.
Hey, “Lezgetreal” here. You think women and men should obsess about their own genitalia and that their lives should focus on that great pleasure. Others think people should commit to relationships that produce and nurture children. Potayto, potahto. But most of us agree that PARENTS should be the ones who decide what is best for their children.
actually I think in this case… when you stop hetro teachers from freely sharing their domestic situations with my children I will be cool.
Let it happen just once in this school and see what I do.
You know…I hate to tell you this, but the only people who seem to obsess about our genitalia is homophobes who tell us to stop obsessing about our genitalia. If you guys stopped obsessing about our genitalia, then maybe we could have equal rights. Of course, Dr. Rekers seemed to obsess about his genitalia and he is supposedly straight. He keeps saying he is.
all I have to say is… my twins will be attending Horace Mann in two years… and I had better never find out a straight teacher has told them she is getting married …. because you can be sure… a gay mom will be on her blog and in the DC schools systems admin offices …bitching about the obvious double standard.
You can complain all you want about a normal marriage. Nobody will care that all you want to do is create a problem and create artificial drama. In simpler terms, you want to cause trouble over something normal that those who are not so normally oriented aren’t catered to. Even simpler, you’re dishonest and thus probably not a good mother if you teach your hate and dishonesty to your kids. Kinda like the sick crap of the Phelps nut jobs damaging *their* kids.
