Alicia Keys Engaged to a Man

It has been no secret in NYC lately has been that Alicia Keys and rapper Swizz Beatz have been looking for an apartment together.  Now, sources say that the two are engaged. Beatz reportedly gave Keys a seven carat diamond ring for her 29^th birthday and the two are currently in Hawaii together on vacation. Keys’ spokesperson is denying the engagement.

The denial of the engagement comes as a surprise, when so much of managing Keys’ career is dispelling the lesbian rumors that have persisted since her career first took off. In 2003 and 2007 Keys released statements directly addressing the lesbian rumors and denying them. Since then, much publicity centering around Keys’ has been to remind the general public that she likes men. A lot. All the time. We get it, she says she’s straight. Also, Keys’ relationship with Swizz Beatz has been so heavily publicized that it makes no sense for her handlers to back off now.

If they are engaged, congrats to the happy couple. For any of you holding out hope that Keys will someday admit she plays for our team, don’t hold your breath, ladies.
