Lez Ask The Femme: Getting Started
Hey Lezzies, Welcome back to “Ask A Femme.” I’m Natasia and I will be dishing out advice on love, dating, relationships, friendship, career, family and fashion issues. Are your friends tired of trying to come up with the solutions to your problems? Are your friends the problem? Did your mom surprise you with a date with the nice guy at her office? I’m here to help!
Dear Femme,
I’m new to this and would really like to know; how do you go about even approaching a woman? What do you say? How do you start?
Just Beginning
Hi JB,
Thanks for you question! There are a lot of variables about you that I don’t know, where you live, what the lez population around there looks like, how old you are, etc. These things matter to a certain extent, however, there are universal ways to get the ball rolling. The first step is to make eye contact and smile. If you are feeling really bold, simply introduce yourself. “Hi I’m JB” is the best pick up line out there and if the lady isn’t gay, at least you will have made yourself a new friend.
I cannot stress how important it is to make eye contact! Especially if you are femme and women may not approach you because they don’t know if you are gay or not. Ladies, make eye contact! Lezzies around the world would get laid twice as much if they just dared to look at each other!
If you can, go to a place in your town where lez girls congregate. If you aren’t old enough to go to a bar, go to an alternative bookstore or go to the gym or find queer art exhibitions, poetry readings, etc. Go anywhere you like, just remember to make eye contact! Keep in touch with me, JB, once you make eye contact we can begin working on the next steps.
Dear Femme,
I found you on Lez Get Real lesbian of the week it said you’re a full time event planner. I want to do event planning so bad and would like to know if you could give me any ideas on how to go about doing it. That would be cool. ![]()
Future Event Planner
Hi FEP,
Thanks for your question! I do corporate event planning, so if that is something you are into, I would research any conference/event companies in your area and apply for an entry level position. Many of them will start you at flight reservations or small lunches and hopefully you can move up to the fun stuff.
Another great place to look is hotels or restaurants. If you are looking to become a freelance party or wedding planner, find an established planner in your area and ask to apprentice. Apprenticeships don’t pay, but they are an excellent way to get experience. Luckily, event planning is a weekend job, so you can keep your day job and plan for your future. Good Luck and let me know how it goes!

I am dating a woman but she wants children too. she wants to start a relation ship with a man and i was upset about that. if she starts this relationship, i’m afraid she would leave me for him. but i noticed she really enjoys the things i do for her in and outside the bedroom. i’m not sure what i should do. do i tell her no or go along with it? -Lilah-
