Immigration Reform – Get the LGBT Bi-national Voice heard NOW and LIVE at

12.30 PM  Eastern Time . The March for America is happening at time of this posting in Washington D.C.  as we know it, there is no certainty as to whether or not UAFA and Lesbian and Gay bi-national spouses and partners will be included in immigration Reform by Senator Schumer and Senator Graham.  There is indeed a controversial aspect to this,  – the Catholic Bishops, want no mention of us as having any rights at all.   Hence they have told Schumer et al, to exclude us.

The Manhattan Declaration marks us persona non grata!  Yet we are American asking to bring our spouses/partners home to us, here in the USA.  We are Americans living abroad because we cannot live at home with our partners, and we are hiding and not answering any knocks on our front doors, because like Shirley Tan, we risk being hauled off in chains.

We need to tell the ENTIRE immigration community that we want to be with our families, at home, here in the US, in the same was as they do. Telling us Gays will benefit from Reform without the inclusion of UAFA, still leaves our spouses out in the cold and that is simply unacceptable.

SO as this March is happening right NOW  and if you are sitting on your bed in your PJ’s blogging, FaceBooking, Twittering, please join me:=

Your voice can be heard too.  The large immigrant community MUST hear our voice today.  Be polite and tell your story!

We are LIVE from the March For America! People are streaming onto the National Mall, chanting, carrying signs and feeling the energy of the day. The official events won’t start until 1pm and we weren’t supposed to start live coverage until then, but we are SO excited that we just couldn’t wait.

We just heard that a bus full of African and Latino immigrants drove in from the great state of Maine at 5am this morning. They gathered in Union Station to share their stories about what brought them here today. After a brief pit stop they walked straight to the Canon office building to meet with staff from Representative Michaud’s office about the lack of immigrant inclusion in the health care bill today. Directly afterwards, they are hitting the mall to join the tens of thousands already here. All this is to say, people are not just hear to hold signs, chant and beat drums. We are organizing, we are lobbying and we are going to ensure that Congress hears us loud and clear today.

Madison Reed here, from West Virginia. My Belarusian partner and I have been forced to live on two continents, because our immigration system discriminates against same-sex family relationships by denying the immigration benefit to us to sponsor our foreign partner. The only way we will support comprehensive immigration reform, is if LGBT families are included in the legislation, meaning that the language of the United American Families Act is included. Comprehensive immigration reform is not comprehensive if it leaves out LGBT Americans.

My husband and I are about to celebrate our first anniversary on April 25th. He lives in California and I live on Canada’s East Coast. We were married here in Canada. We both are hoping that this is the year that we can finally begin living our lives together this year, instead of apart. I so wish we could have been there to be part of this moment in history. Please keep us and all binational couples in your thoughts and prayers today. If UAFA does not pass, then my husband will have to leave the US to join me here in Canada. We have already begun making plans for that to happen. We try to remain hopefull, but also have our plan B.
