Maine LGBT Civil Rights March Planed For May 28-30

03/20/10-by Bridgette P. LaVictoire
In May, a march is being planned to highlight the need for LGBT equality. From May 28 to 30, a variety of events will be taking place culminating in a planned march on the Augusta capital building. The people behind it, lead by Tania Chadbourne Hopkins, are hoping that others will help organize their own rallies around the nation at the same time.

Currently, events including a 70 mile bike ride, a candle light vigil, a friends and family picnic, and a variety of other events are being planned for that weekend.

The march itself will be conducted in two legs meeting at State and Union Streets. The first leg will start near the Hallowell city hall and the second in near the Augusta DMV.

Please check out their website for more information and to help plan any other events.
