Segregation Forever? Oh Hell No, Show Your Face For Constance McMillan

3/12/10-by Paula Brooks
This week, rather than allow lesbian Constance McMillan, an 18-year-old senior at Itawamba High School in Fulton, Miss, to bring her girlfriend to prom and wear a tux, the school canceled the prom altogether…. So Constance and the Mississippi chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union have sued their Asses.

Wonder if anyone at Itawamba remembers Santayana’s Law of Repetitive Consequences and this guy?

How’s that Segregation Now, Segregation Tomorrow, Segregation Forever thing working out for ya George?

They should, because they are sure looking a lot like ol’ Georgie Boy these days.

Anyway…. Did you take a same-sex date to your prom / winter formal / other fancy high school event?

In honor of Constance, who btw is our new most admired person… ever… the ladies over at Autostraddle.com are asking that question and have started a Lesbian Prom Photo Project to show that queer kids deserve prom, look damn good doing it and to tell these folks to remember how that segregation forever thing worked out for George and get out of the doorway already…. Because we’re queer, we’re here and they can go to hell if they think we’re going back in the closet.

Get the details here and send in your photos ASAP!

Constance you have messed up the whole itawamba county now every where i go when sum1 asks me where i am from i am ashamed to say itawamba bc they always say oh you no that gay girl and it makes me look bad so if i was you i would be on my hands and knees praying for forgiveness and if you dont no who god is you can go to tupelo lifeway christian bookstore and ask them for a bible and they will help you find one then you can go home and read it then pray for forgiveness!!!

Mikayla – You sound like you have a lot to learn about being a Christian, praying to God and being like Jesus. Jesus did no discriminate and he showed compassion to everyone. I do hope that one day you can actually learn the point of Christianity.

As for Constance – You go girl! If those bunch of rednecks are going to treat you like that, the world doesn’t need ‘em either. What the world needs is people like you who aren’t afraid to be who you are and are able to see love where it really is – EVERYWHERE.
