Miley Cyrus Kissed a Girl: Shocks Britian

The Daily Mail is reporting that Miley Cyrus simulated a lesbian kiss with one of her backup dancers during a performance on family oriented show, Britain’s Got Talent. Miley did not actually kiss the dancer, they just ‘thrust their lips towards each other.’ The Daily Mail describes the almost kiss as, “Good girl gone bad.” Because of course, lesbian kisses are inherently bad. Miley can take topless pictures, sleep with men who are committing statutory rape, dance on a pole on television and with her father sitting in the audience, but almost kissing a girl? GROSS! SHOCKING! HER PRECIOUS IMAGE IS NOW DESTROYED GOD SHE WAS SUCH A GOOD GIRL BEFORE THAT DISGUSTING ALMOST KISS!

Miley was singing her provocative song, “Can’t be Tamed.” Whose lyrics aren’t squeaky clean to begin with. The almost kiss occurred after 9:30 P.M. so Miley will probably not get in trouble for it, in terms of television standards. But it is another blow to her rapidly tanking family friendly image. However, I doubt that she wants her family friendly image. She wants to be edgier, she wants to be in the big leagues, compared to girls like Lady Gaga, Britney Spears, Katy Perry and Christina Aguilera.

Miley loves the gays, so I doubt that she would consider the faux lesbian ‘a big deal.’ As with anything Miley does, it’s hard to ascertain the reasoning behind it. Miley might have been throwing a bone to the gay community, showing her support. ‘Look teen girls! You can kiss other girls! Yay homos! I love them!’ Or it might have been a desperate bid to be looked upon as a grown woman, one who is sexual and confident in her sexuality, a feminist in the ridiculous terms set forth by a 90′s era Britney Spears. It’s probably a bit of both, I can’t hate Miley for it. But it does reveal the crazy homophobia of the British media. Miley wearing black metal studded leather? Ok. Grinding on men? Ok. Almost kissing a girl? STOP THE PRESSES, THERE’S BEEN A HOMO MOMENT ON OUR SHOW! Not to single out Britain, I’m sure America would have done the same thing. I need to go be sad in a corner now.
