Rachel Maddow has never been to Afghanistan, but that’s about to change. The left leaning lesbian powerhouse will travel there this week. She will anchor her MSNBC show live on location on July 6th and 7th. Maddow will be joined by NBC News Chief Foreign Correspondent Richard Engel, who has been reporting from Afghanistan, specifically about the US troops there.  Maddow’s trip corresponds with General Petraeus assuming command there. It is sure to be a turbulent time as Petraeus tries to take over for General Stanley McChrystal as command of the U.S. and NATO war effort in Afghanistan Between the controversy of General McChrystal’s comments in Rolling Stone and President Obama’s timeline for withdrawing the troops, Maddow could not have chosen a more interesting time to cover the troubled region. Set your DVR’s ladies!
