The Daily Show Goes After The Media, Men, and Women Who Win Primaries

06/10/10-by Bridgette P. LaVictoire
Tuesday saw several. . .well, four, well, three women really, win primaries across the nation. Nikki Haley was the only one who did not win her primary outright. The other women, from Susan Angle to Carly Fiorina won their primaries outright. Of course, Meg Whitman touted her business savvy by mentioning her and Carly Fiorina’s ability to “create jobs and balance budgets” despite the fact that Fiorina was named one of the top twenty all time worst CEO’s. Fiorina managed to drop the value of Hewlet Packard’s stock by a third.

Jon Stewart did a wonderful segment with Samantha Bee on the turn towards women in the political arena while the nation is, as she put it, waist deep in tarballs and hobos. Bee is expecting her third child with husband Jason Jones.

While many women are finding that they are now in the running for high political office, many of these women are not exactly women friendly. Many are against greater rights for women. Most are anti-choice, and most are against equality in general. They are, by and large, supported by Sarah Palin, who has been going around the country behaving as if she is a Queen Maker when, in reality, she has a history of backing the most likely victor. Perhaps her supporters will realize that she is little more than a high paid cheerleader for the Republican Party no matter what she says.
