Martina Navratilova Kicks Ass at Wimbledon Weeks After Radiation Therapy

Martina Navratilova won an invitational doubles match with (tennis) partner Jana Novotna. This win comes just weeks after Martina completed treatment for breast cancer. Her fans are calling this, ‘tuff babe-age.’

Martina announced her health problems in early April when she was diagnosed with a form of non-invasive breast cancer, called DCIS. She and her doctors detected the disease early during a routine mammogram. After a lumpectory and six weeks of radiation, the tennis champ is obviously back to her old self.

For those of you who are followers of Martina’s dramatic love life more so than her tennis skills, she and longtime partner Toni Layton reached a settlement in late June in their two year, ongoing divorce battle. Layton left her husband and family for Martina and is said to have cashed in on the settlement. Before Layton, Martina has a prolonged legal battle with lover, Judy Nelson. My favorite Martina story, is her relationship with Ruby Fruit Jungle author Rita Mae Brown, that ended in broken car windows.
