Melissa Etheridge Official Files To Divorce Union With Tammy Michaels

It is now official. Melissa Etheridge has filed to formally dissolve her union with Tammy Michaels. The two have been heading this direction for some time now, and court papers have finally been filed, according to TMZ. The documents cite irreconcilable differences between the two. Etheridge is asking for joint custody of the two’s twins. Most reports cite that the two began their split in April of this year.
Melissa Etheridge is best known for album “Yes I Am” which came out in the early 1990’s. She has battled breast cancer in recent years. She famously came out in 1992 in the middle of the Presidential campaign for then Governor Bill Clinton.

Unfortunately, that means you have to deal with me, and the last time I listened to Etheridge seriously was the 1990’s. My knowledge of pop culture is abysmal.))

Melissa is a total dog… read Tammy’s blog today. She gave up her caree to raise Melissa’s kids with Julie before they had the twins and now melissa wants to cut her totally off financially. What has happened to Etheridge, she’s become selfish has-been fame whore. Shallow should be the title of her next album. count me as one less fan.
I don’t think Melissa could come off looking like a bigger a-hole if she TRIED. Her petition to deny spousal support is over the edge!!!!! She comes off as a selfish, vindictive, douch bag. The least she can do is be a stand up guy and pay Tammy for all she’s done for her. The more Melissa does, the more I dislike her. I can’t believe she still has such a large following…… what’s wrong with her fans?
Tammy is “blind sided” by what, exactly??? I don’t really care what they “pinky swore” on (is she 12????), at this point each party has to do what is best for themselves…that is what the end of a relationship means.
And what is this crap about Tammy “gave up everything”…blah blah blah…so the work she did while in the marriage (L-Word, anyone??) was for free cuz she gave up her earning potential to give Melissa children??? Give me a f’ing break!
No financial support for Tammy does not mean no support for the children she still wants to be a parent to. Perhaps Tammy needs to stop licking her wounds at Mommy’s house and get her ass back to work like us mere mortal are forced to do when our relationships end.
I have very little respect for either of them at this time but the one very stark difference I can’t help but notice is that Tammy is still churning out her so-called “poetry” on her pathetic blog while Melissa continues to refuse to speak of the break up publicly and even forbids discussion on her official blog.
Grow up Tammy. Success is the very best revenge. Give it a shot, learn some class and keep in mind everything you post on line has the very real potential of being read in the future by the children you share with Melissa. Send her an email if you have something to tell her, but for god’s sake and the sake of your children, keep it OUT of the public sphere.
Breakups stink, no getting around it. Since noone here has walked a mile in their comfortable shoes, I’ll keep my snarky observations to myself.
I’m keeping out of this whole conversation. I really have little patience for what celebrities do in their home lives.
By posting, by definition, ittakesavillae and Bridgette, you have put yourself in the conversation. It’s a bit ingeniousness to inject into the conversation by saying you won’t inject in the conversation, don’t you think?

MaiaD – Why thank you for calling me and Bridgette ingenious. Yes we are both adroit and imaginative. But what does that have to do with your post concerning us? Do you want to spank us or flatter us? Perhaps a more apt word to use may be disingenuous.

I pay little to no attention to the lives of celebrities. I could not even tell you what Tammy Lynn Michaels looked like until two days ago. The word you are looking for is “disingenuous”, incidentally. I could not comment upon this divorce in a rational manner if I tried. I know nothing of the relationship between Ms Etheridge and Ms Michaels. I know that Ms Etheridge recently had breast cancer and that she came out around her album “Yes I Am.”
I am, typically, the politics writer for LGR and not the Entertainment/Culture writer. There are a few things I do follow like Futurama, and certain bands I listen to like Inkubus Sukkubus, but I do not tend to follow the gossip.
MaiaD, I was also giving a little comment to a regular commenter on the site reinforcing that I have not got a clue about this entire thing. To my mind, our Corporate Patriarchs prefer us to keep an eye on the goings on of celebrities instead of the goings on of their boardroom meetings, their ecological disasters, and their bribing of politicians. I actually do not care if Ms Etheridge and Ms Michaels duke it out with each other in court.
Incidentally, MaiaD, I have NEVER been to Ms Michaels blog. Those were a repost from the site I linked to- Huffington Post. If you had followed the link embedded in “latest salvo”, it would have taken you to my source material. I posted this, as I made clear, because our regular Entertainment reporter, Natasia Rose, is on vacation. If you wish to quibble with my statement that they were ‘comments’, then do so, but they were her official comments about this divorce, understood? These were in the public sphere when I reposted them off of HuffPo, so going after that IS disingenuous.
As for the rest of this- I have no clue. I did not even know about the whole ‘no support’ thing until I had to wade through your reply to respond to it.
