President Obama To Appear On Day Time Talkshow “The View”

07/26/10-by Bridgette P. LaVictoire
On Thursday, President Barack Obama will become the first sitting US President to appear on daytime talk television. He will be appearing on “The View”. The episode will air on Thursday, but be taped on Wednesday. The topics for the interview will include jobs, the economy, the Gulf Oil Disaster, and how the Obama family is adjusting to life in the White House.

Right now, ABC News and “The View” have not addressed a controversy within the LGBT Community to anyone’s satisfaction. A recent show involving comedian D.L. Hughley included some incredibly inaccurate information about the spread of HIV/AIDS in the African-American Community. According to Hughley, the disease is spreading because of bisexual men having intercourse with women and men without protection. Hughley’s information is inaccurate according to the CDC.

President Obama has been having some problems with his image of late and could use the positive exposure. Recent polling shows that a plurality either do not know if they would vote for Obama for a second term or would not vote for him at all.

Thursday will also mark the return of the show’s creator Barbara Walters. She has been out since having heart valve replacement surgery in May. Eighty year old Walters announced that she will be returning to the show full-time in September, and it is likely that she chose to return a bit early for such a high profile guest. Walters said in a statement “We are so pleased and honored that President Obama will be a guest on ‘The View.’ This shows that both the President and the First Lady feel that our show is an influential and important source of information and news.”
