Showtime Beefs Up Cast of Weeds

HBO may have TrueBlood but Showtime is the place to find Oscar winning actors and other A listers. Showtime has recently added Cynthia Nixon to the cast of “The Big C” to star alongside Laura Linney, Oliver Platt and Gabourey Sidibe. Now, they are adding Richard Dreyfus to the already stellar cast of Weeds!

You probably remember Dreyfus best from his turn as a nerdy scientist turned shark slayer in Jaws. His hit movies also include: Close Encounters of the Third Kind, American Graffiti, The Goodbye Girl and many others. The word is that he will play someone from Nancy’s past, someone…unexpected. Dun dun duuuhhh.

Need to know what is coming up for the Botwin clan? Well, this season on Weeds: Nancy Botwin (Mary-Louise Parker in her Golden Globe® Award-winning performance) and family are now on the lam after Shane (Alexander Gould) bopped Mexican VIP Pilar to death with a croquet mallet. To elude the Mexican FBI, police and mafia, they grab what they can, toss their cell phones and IDs and hit the road.

Also joining the cast of Weeds, lesbian favorite & sex symbol, Terminator star Linda Hamilton! Also, Zach Morris from Saved by the Bell! and lesbianish Alanis Morrisette will be reprising her role as Nancy’s doctor/Andy’s girlfriend.

Weeds will be back on August 16th. Will you be watching? I know I will.
