Bristol Palin and Levi Johnston Call Off Engagement…Again

For those of you who remember back that far, Bristol Palin and Levi Johnston were engaged while Bristol was pregnant with little Corduroy HairPin Trigger and Sarah Palin was making her VP run. Then they broke up, Bristol went on the speaking circuit, talking about abstinence and how you are a teenage whore if you even think about having sex with a boy and getting preggers, like she did. While the Momma Grizzly in training was doing that, Levi posed for Playgirl, bashed Momma Palin and pretended to date Kathy Griffin. Then the two shocked the world when they recently announced in People that they were engaged! Again!

Bloggers and news media outlets thought this was a calculated move. Those crafty Palins, we speculated, now it looks as if Bristol is marrying the father of her child without her mother holding a shotgun in the background and Sarah can score points for being forgiving, just like Jesus. But no, we were giving the Palins too much credit. There was no political scheme, it was all for the love of money. Bristol and Levi got money for giving People the exclusive about their re-engagement and now Bristol is getting even more money by talking to People about their break-up…again.

Bristol says to the upscale celeb rag that the day their announcement came out in People, was the same day it all crumbled. Bristol was humilated by reports that Levi got an ex-girlfriend pregnant (which he didn’t), that he made a video mocking her family and that he was obsessed with being famous. Umm that’s the Kettle calling the Pot a famewhore. It’s interesting that they called off their engagement right after the reality show they were pitching about their lives together failed to garner any interest.

“It’s over. I broke up with him,” Bristol Palin tells PEOPLE exclusively of her second try at an engagement to Levi Johnston, father of her 19-month-old son Tripp.

In an emotional phone interview with PEOPLE, Palin spoke through tears about feeling heartbroken, humiliated and trapped – while Johnston acted cool. “There’s been no remorse,” she says, adding that she’s seen him only once in the past three weeks.

“The final straw was him flying to Hollywood for what he told me was to see some hunting show but come to find out it was that music video mocking my family,” she says. “He’s just obsessed with the limelight and I got played.”

Bristol may be done with Levi (for now) but she’s not done being a hypocritical, self righeous priss, taking a dig at single mothers saying:

”I have faith that I’ll find it [a two parent home]. Through this whole experience I know I need a man who’s going to be completely honest with me and someone who loves me and Tripp and wants to be with him all the time. I also want someone who has religious beliefs and a good family.”

Bristol also says that she doesn’t feel safe, she doesn’t specify why, and adds that she will be moving homes and is staying with her parents.

Sarah throws in her two cents saying:

“I wish for Bristol to be able to move forward in life with her same forgiving, gracious, optimistic spirit, but from henceforth she’ll know to trust but verify. Bristol is strong, she is independent, and she knows what is right for her son.”
