Edie Falco, Jim Parsons, and Glee Win For Best Comedy Leads and Best Directing

Edie Falco, known for her role on the Sopranos, won Best Actress in a Comedy for her role in Nurse Jackie. The actress had already won three Emmys for her role in the Sopranos. She was nominated against Lea Michele of Glee, Julia Louis-Dreyfus Of the New Adventures of Old Christine, Amy Poehler of Parks and Recreation, Tina Fey of 30 Rock, Toni Collette of United States of Tara.

Making nerds look good and sexy, Jim Parsons of The Big Bang Theory. He was nominated against Larry David of Curb Your Enthusiasm, Matthew Morrison of Glee, Tony Shalhoub of Monk, Steve Carell of The Office, Alec Baldwin of 30 Rock. Tony Shalhoub was nominated for his role in Monk, which came to a conclusion this past year. Monk won three Emmys in the past for his role in Monk. Alec Baldwin has one two for his role on the show that often tapes just a few floors up from Keith Olbermann.

For Best Directing in a Comedy, Ryan Murphy continued the winning streak for Glee by beating out Paris Barclay, also nominated for Glee, as well as Jason Winer of Modern Family, allen Coulter of Nurse Jackie and Don Scardino of 30 Rock.
