Representative Joe Sestak is running for the Senate in Pennsylvania, and he has now received the endorsement of former Republican Senator Chuck Hagel. The former Nebraska Senator will even be joining the former Admiral on the campaign trail. According to Hagel, Sestak “has demonstrated during his two terms in Congress that he puts what’s best for the country before the interests of his party.”
Hagel has always been a moderate Republican, and garnered plenty of criticism from the Republican Party over his stances. Hagel went on to retire in 2008. He plans on joining Sestak on the trail in Pittsburgh and Philadelphia as a way of making the endorsement official.
Recently, New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg also announced his support for Sestak. According to one average of the polling for that race, Sestak trails his opponent Pat Toomey by just under 4%, or 41.6% for Sestak and 45.4% for Toomey.
