Lesbians and gays cannot get married in New York, but the City Council of New York City has voted to require that the clerk tell them where they can get hitched. On Wednesday, the council approved the measure which requires that the information to same-sex couples registering domestic partnerships be informed that they can get married in states such as Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut and Iowa, as well as Washington DC and New Hampshire.
Here is video of NYC City Council Speaker Christine Quinn speaking about the measure. Quinn is openly lesbian.
