Paris Hilton Facing Felony For Cocaine Possession, Claims Purse Not Hers

Paris Hilton has denied ownership of the purse in which police found a gram of cocaine after stopping the car she was riding in. The vehicle left a trail of marijuana smoke as it went down the street. According to Las Vegas Police Lieutenant Dennis Flynn, “She told me the purse was not hers, that she borrowed it from a friend.” The friend has not been identified. The socialite did acknowledge owning $1,300 in cash, numerous credit cards, a package of Zig-Zag rolling papers, and a broken tablet for the prescription asthma medication Albuterol.

Hilton apparently asked to be allowed to go into the Wynn Las Vegas resort after her boyfriend Cy Waits, a Las Vegas nightclub mogul, failed a field sobriety test. According to Lt. Flynn, Hilton denied owning a small plastic “bindle” which contained just under a gram of cocaine powder. The “bindle” fell out of Hilton’s purse when she went to get a tube of lip balm.

Flynn wrote in his report “Hilton said she needed to put some lip balm on, and I handed her the purse from the table. She began to open it, I saw a small bindle of what I believed to be cocaine in clear plastic baggy begin to fall from the purse and into my hand.”

According to Flynn’s report “Hilton admitted the Albuterol … was hers and is prescribed to her, but the suspected cocaine was not. I asked Hilton whose cocaine it was, and she said she had not seen it but now thought it was gum.”

Hilton’s laywer, David Chesnoff, said “as previously stated, the facts of the situation will be tested in a courtroom.” The felony charge that she faces would get her only probation if convicted, but one to four years in a Nevada prison if she broke that probation. She spent less than three hours in jail before being released without bail. Waits faces only a misdemeanor for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. He spent the night in jail before being released on $2,000 bail.

Waits is a managing partner of several nightclubs at Wynn’s Encore Resort and of Drai’s after hours club at Bill’s Gamblin’ Hall & Saloon. Some hundred people were there snapping pictures of Hilton and the police officer.
