Perez Hilton is using his substantial influence to send a message to Barack Obama that the LGBT community won’t accept his “Separate but Equal” stance on marriage equality. Six hours ago @Perezhilton tweeteed:

@BarackObama One day you will regret not supporting gay marriage! #EqualityIsForEVERYONE

I assume that the regret that Perez is implying, is that the Queer community will not rally behind him to get him re-elected for a second term as President. That would be a huge world of hurt to Obama, as the LGBT voterbase rallied around him during his bid for President.

Perez Hilton is an internet celebrity shock jock, but it would be a mistake to downplay his influence. He has a large fanbase, concentrated of people in their twenties and younger, whom he has won over with his tweet. It has been re-tweeted hundreds of times. This probably isn’t the movement that is going to change Obama’s mind, but maybe it will grab his attention and let new and younger voters know exactly where the President stands on civil rights.

Let me first say, I despise Perez . But this time I do agree with him. I think Obama WILL regret not supporting equal marriage. For a bi-racial President whose parents couldn’t marry until ‘Loving vs Virginia’ in 1967, for him to support the ‘seperate but equal’ doctrine is mind boggling!
