Toronto Neighborhood Drives Christians Out Who Were Harassing Gay Couple

There comes a point where those who know and respect lesbians, gays, transpeople will stand up and be counted. They will stand against the tyranny and hatred of others. Sometimes it will be a large act such as being willing to advance legislation that might get death threats. Occasionally, it will be simple things.
Members of a church who have been preaching hatred outside the home of a gay couple last weekend were forced to leave the neighborhood after residents fed up with them confronted them and forced them to leave. Roughly a dozen members of the Highfield Road Gospel Hall in Toronto, Canada were confronted by ten residents of the city’s Leslieville neighborhood. Many of the residents shouted “Stay the hell out of my neighborhood.”
According to Geoff Skelding, the man who recorded part of the confrontation, “They may have also driven another couple from the area as well by doing the same thing. Tonight most of our neighbors came out and were successful in getting them to leave. The people who go to that church don’t even live in our area!”
Canada has, as a nation, more tolerance for the LGBT Community than the United States does, and already has full marriage equality across the country.

I am heartened by this. Good for them!
It continually surprises me that this sort of thing can happen. I wish people would stand up for what they believe where I live. They are out there; they just don’t want to stand up and be counted.
But as they say, it takes just one!

The only thing he did for humanity was to commit suicide on May 3, 1945 as the Russians were storming Berlin.
BTW, he was a christian also, who along with hitler also talked about moral values. Speeches preserved in a book in the Oxford university library. Much can be found by googling “hitler and religion”
Good for these neighbors of the gays. Can’t you prosecute these anything but christian christians under your hate crimes laws.
We need those laws also in the USA – If GErmany had t hose laws in 1930, hitler would have rotted in jail, and 55 million people would have not been murdered in mankinds worst conflagration.

Wow-always amazed that blacks are bigoted against gays.
It was only decades ago when religious nuts preached against blacks as “sons of Cain”.

Thats the power of religion for you. Rember 911 also – those people were educated middle class people for the most part But saudi arabia is run by a cabal of a crooked royal family of 20000 or so who go to QAtar etc, to gamble, get drunk, and have sex with little chidlren.
While the nation is really run by the Wahabi Islamic extremists. Who chop off hands for stealing etc etc etc. Its all about power and money and vice versa.
There are lots of great religions, but now you know why my whole family is aethists
