Whoopi Goldberg Cuts Sister Act Role Short To Be With Ill Mother

Whoopi Goldberg, who is best known lately for her gig on The View, but she has also been appearing in London as Mother Superior in the musical Sister Act, a role played on screen by Dame Maggie Smith, known to many for her role as Professor Minerva McGonagall in the Harry Potter films.

Unfortunately, the actress had to cut her stay short.  She flew back to American on Friday after finding out that her mother, Emma, had a stroke.  Goldberg has the support of the producers of her show who stated “the thoughts and sincere best wishes of the producers and the entire Sister Act company are with her at this difficult time.”

Goldberg has always credited her mother’s advice as to why she has been such a success.
