In her latest shocking move, Lady Gaga has posed for the cover of Vogue ( Japan Vogue, not the American one that just has Blake Lively on the cover every month) with only shreds of red meat covering her nude, tight body. As one might suspect, PETA finds that distateful. PETA President, Ingrid Newkirk said:
“Lady Gaga’s job is to do outlandish things, and this certainly qualifies as outlandish because meat is something you want to avoid putting on or in your body. No matter how beautifully it is presented, flesh from a tortured animal is flesh from a tortured animal. Meat represents bloody violence and suffering, so if that’s the look they were going for, they achieved it” [Source]
This is funny coming from an organization that recruits meat eating celebrities to pose for their “I’d Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur” campaign. In fact, Gaga has posed for the campaign in the past. The most obvious hypocrite in the campaign being NYC Housewives star, Bethanny Frankel, who both cooks meat, eats meat and wears leather. Newkirk is actually responsible for starting the “I’d Rather Go Naked” campaign, which exploits women’s bodies for PETA’s cause.
Basically, back off of Gaga, PETA. The little monsters aren’t going to stand for it.
