Despite having called for Jerry Brown to fire the staffer who called Meg Whitman a ‘whore’, California National Organization for Women President Patty Bellasalma has told Talking Points Memo that “Meg Whitman could be described as a ‘political whore.’ Yes, that’s an accurate statement.” It is also an accurate statement for, oh, around 100% of all politicians. NOW took some heat for endorsing Brown rather than Whitman even with someone on his staff calling the former CEO of eBay a ‘whore’.
A staffer for brown called Whitman a ‘whore’ while discussing political strategy. It is not clear who the staffer was, but it was not Brown. Whitman grasped this particular issue to try and distance herself from the fact that she knowingly employed an undocumented worker.
The endorsement was made, of course, based upon far more than just the one inappropriate remark given that Whitman is very much against most of the basic rights that women enjoy since Whitman, herself, has gotten what she wants and does not care about the lives of other women.
NOW did follow up the whole thing denouncing the use of the word, but commending his appology for it having happened.
