Last of 33 Miners is Out in Chile

Melanie Nathan 10-13-10

No not that kind of out; out of the pit of the earth presenting a story of survival and rescue like no other in the history of mining.   All day hundreds of millions of people across the globe have watched each miner appear out of the capsule called “Phoenix{ into the arms of  the Chilean President, their wives and children and of course the emerging mistresses, willing to show face.

So as the 33 rd, the foreman appears to a countdown, Hollywood no doubt is already preparing contracts and agents are flying to the scene.

Hopefully the miners will be given an opportunity to re-enter real life before the rush!

Discussion with 54 year old Foreman Luis Urzua by President of Chile at San Jose Mine in Chile.
Pres: What was most difficult?
Urzua: WHen the dust cleared and we saw the rock – I thought i was in a movie. It took three hours for the dust to settle- only then we could see what happened.  We had spirit and sytrength and we wanted to stay alive for our families.
Urzua : We did not know 5 days if you were dead or alive and when we knew everyone i9n Chile cried.
Pres: go hug your wife and daughter you are an inspiration – Chile will never be the same after this.
