Lesbians Could Rock the Oscars

Nov 26,2010 -  Annette Bening and Julianne Moore, who play a crisis-facing lesbian couple in The Kids Are All Right, and Natalie Portman, as an unstable ballerina who has a possible same-sex hook up with her rival in Black Swan, are considered the front runners for best actress Academy Award, according to Entertainment Weekly. Dave Karger, one of the industry’s most reliable awards pundits, names the three women as the best bets to receive Oscar nominations when they’re announced in January.

Annette Benning and Julianne Moore are two of my favorite actresses. Both have been unlucky when it comes to Oscar. Benning could have won and had there have been a co-Oscar, would have for her protrayal of the Kathy Lee Gifford type on steroids in ‘American Beauty’ and then again for seasoned stage actress in ‘Being Julia’. Julianne should have won for ‘Far from heaven’ and should have won for ‘The end of the affair’. If they are nominated it’ll probably be in the same category. At lease one of my favorites will(I hope)go home with a well deserved Oscar.
