Natalie Portman…so pretty…so good at putting her foot in her mouth. For those of you who disagree, think back to the “I know what it’s like to be black in America” statement. Recently, Portman gave an interview to Vogue that vaguely promoted her latest movie, ‘Black Swan.’ Portman had this to say about the lesbian sex scene:

“Lesbian scenes, sex scenes, they’re all over the place! But because it’s me, people are shocked. I see the value of a good girl persona – it’s so easy to subvert it!”

I like to think this quote was out of context but when you add that to all the sentiments Portman has expressed in the past, probably not. She has said that the sex scene was awkward because her and co-star Mila Kunis were such good friends (soooo she’s never been friends with a male co-star who was also a romantic lead?) she has said that she had to be drunk for the scene (real professional, girl!) and she has said that she doesn’t want the scene to take away from the rest of the movie. Personally, I thought the scene was the best part of the movie! Portman is a great actress because in the lesbian sex scene she looked like she was lovin’ it like McDonald’s. Like, ba da ba ba ba, she’s lovin’ it!

Portman also talked about her diet and women as objects in movies. Warning: the quotes below will piss you off a little for a reason you can’t define if you aren’t a huge Portman fan. If you are a huge Portman fan, read on. I’m sure you’ll love it.

On her diet:
“I swear, I eat . . . I consume my own weight in hummus every day. I cook a lot, and I even do vegan baking. I like pleasure, I like joy. I’d never get to the point where I would starve or injure myself like Nina does. I’m the opposite—when I’m hungry, I eat, and I always make sure I’m eating something delicious. I’m tough on myself in terms of the standards I want to live up to, but that’s also part of my pleasure: knowing you are being your fullest self. Being your fullest self is a lot of work.”

On college:
“I gained my freshman fifteen or 20 and had superdepressed moments. That Cambridge winter is tough. It was important to know how to go through that and how to get myself out of it. You start learning how to ask your friends or professionals for help, or go to mentors.”

On reading reviews of her work:
“I try not to read reviews or anything about me. It’s totally natural to be interested, but it’s completely damaging. Over the almost 20 years I’ve been working, I’ve been up, I’ve been down, I’ve been in, I’ve been out. Just getting to do the work is the privilege. I always feel like I have no idea what I’m doing. The one thing you have control over is having a great experience by doing your work fully.”

On women as objects:
“There’s a difference between being in a bra and underpants as an object on a men’s magazine cover and playing yourself – a woman with desires and needs who loves and laughs with her friends – in a bra and underpants. You become an object if you simply put it out there. Most movies are made by men, it’s totally natural that they’re going to present their worldview, so we’re trying to find more women who are writers and directors who are expressing their worldview.”

You know, you really can’t say ANYTHING these days without pissing some group off. Whether that be white right-wing Christian groups or now even Democrat identity politics subgroups.

I think Portman’s comments were probably made in the context of them being ripped off and used ONLY for porn by porn sites instead of having context within the story.

I understand now why people don’t like to give interviews, little snippets are taken wildly out of context.

Portman’s one of the biggest gay rights supporters I know of in Hollywood. Maybe she’s straight and she doesn’t like kissing girls, so what? What’s wrong with that?

Someone can be straight and support gay rights.

I don’t think you’re even realizing what you’re saying. You’re saying that unless you enjoy the gay experience you’re a bigot.

Frankly that’s about as creepy and Glenn Beckesque as anything I can think of.

If somebody can’t be straight and still support gay rights then maybe straight support for gay causes has reached a peak…..

Can we also stop with the spreading of nonsense. There was NO alcohol involved to do the scene. That was a made up story, and not true. Nor did Natalie ever say there was. It was a made up quote that got thrown all over the internet but both Mila and Natalie denied it during the press junket.

You’re over reacting. She said EVERY type of sex scene is uncomfortable to do in some other interview. It’s not because she’s doing it with a girl… And, Mila and her are really good friends, i’m a bisexual girl and i would feel totally “weird” if i had to kiss a friend, doesn’t matter if it’s a girl or a guy.
And let’s face it, the SOCIETY sees a girl that hooks up with another girl as a “bad girl”… i don’t think she said it’s her opinion, she just expressed what society says. It’s sad, but it’s true.

“Warning: the quotes below will piss you off a little for a reason you can’t define if you aren’t a huge Portman fan” Maybe that’s just you. I don’t see why would ANYBODY feel pissed off by the things she said, i think it was kinda smart, actually. Especially here:

“Most movies are made by men, it’s totally natural that they’re going to present their worldview, so we’re trying to find more women who are writers and directors who are expressing their worldview.”

It’s nice the way she said it… She didn’t criticize men to say good things about women. I like that… is “peace and love” =D

” she has said that she had to be drunk for the scene” THAT’S A FREAKIN’ RUMOR! Just watch Mila’s interview on George Lopez, she said she doesn’t know where the hell that rumor came from.

““I know what it’s like to be black in America”” > You don’t have to be black to know how they feel. In the same way you don’t have to be gay or lesbian to know they suffer.

Seriously, i don’t know who wrote this, but you should calm down a little bit. It looks like you’re such a “hater” on Natalie Portman, geezus! Leave the girl alone lol….

And no, i’m not a fan. I just saw her movie “Black Swan” and just watched some interviews, cause i was really “WOOW” with her performance.

    Chill out!! =D
