Ladies, are you ready for more of “The Real L Word”? I don’t know about you but I’m exhausted just thinking about it! Afterellen’s Trish Bendix has the details on the upcoming season of the series, which everyone can agree has some kinks to work out. Basically if you tried out for the show, you weren’t gonna make it because Showtime has decided to focus the series on Whitney and her friends, which is probably what they should have done in the first place. I mentioned this at the end of last season, you can read it HERE: http://lezgetreal.com/2010/08/the-real-l-word-recap-episode-9/ Gosh I love being right.

Anyway, David Nevens, President of Entertainment at Showtime Networks revealed the show will be returning this summer and said:

“I felt like there was life in that idea…First of all this network has had a long relationship with gay and particularly lesbian audiences that is important to protect. I think there’s a more interesting version of that show that we didn’t quite get at last year. I think we can make the show feel more Showtime, more premium and exclusive. We’re going to make some real cast changes. We’re going to focus it somewhat around Whitney and her friends, who I found are the most authentic, young 20-something lesbians in Los Angeles. And I think we can do a better job at sort of capturing that sub culture.” [Source]

I love trashy reality TV, so that combined with lesbians should be a good time. I hope this season is better than the first one, which was kind of a snoozefest. Also, I don’t want to see Whitney having sex. Again. Or Ever. While we don’t know who else in the cast will be returning, or who else will be featured on the show, there is speculation that Sara will be around because her and Whit are rumored to in a more serious relationship than they were. Also, I’m hoping that Shay Magro of “Love Darling” and her fiancee and Whit’s best friend/voice of reason Alyssa will play a larger role this season. I’m also secretly hoping Mikey will be back.

No matter who is back and who isn’t, one thing is for sure. I will be recapping each episode! So stay tuned ladies.
