Palin Leads Obama By One Point In Texas Poll

Sarah Palin might not be willing to disappear now, but her political career may well be over. A new survey from the Democratic leaning Public Policy Polling shows that Sarah Palin leads President Barack Obama by one point (47% to 46%) in, of all places, Texas. That is right, the reddest state in the Union has Palin ahead of Obama by a single point.

TalkingPointsMemo lists the entire horse race grouping thusly:

• Mike Huckabee leads Obama by a whopping 55%-39%.

• Mitt Romney leads Obama by 49%-42%.

• Newt Gingrich leads Obama by 48%-43%.

• Palin just edges Obama by 47%-46%.

• And Gov. Rick Perry, who has run populist anti-Washington campaigns and is now dealing with a serious state budget crunch, only ties Obama at 45%-45%.

PPP president Dean Debnam said “At the end of the day, it’s unlikely even the most unelectable Republican loses Texas in even the largest re-election landslide scenario for President Obama, but this certainly drives home how unpopular Sarah Palin is right now, and how much more populare Obama is than most Democrats.”

The survey had a margin of error of ±3.3%.

Since the attempted assassination of Representative Gabrielle Giffords, Palin’s stock has been plummeting badly. Not only was the rhetoric that she engaged in looked at strongly, but her use of crosshairs on a map that included Rep. Giffords’ district opened Palin up to criticism. Rather than answering the criticism, she played the victim unapologetically earning her even more scorn.
