Lesbian Couple In The Running For Crate & Barrel’s Ultimate Wedding

03/09/11-by Bridgette P. LaVictoire
This time, Crate & Barrel’s 2011 Ultimate Wedding Contest will be featuring several lesbian and gay couples, and one of them even asked us to make mention of it. Megan and Lauren are asking for people to vote for them. The two met on in 2008, and got engaged last year when Megan popped the question.

According to the site’s description:

Our love story

We first met in late 2008 on Although skeptical of the internet dating process, we were a perfect match. Even though we did not go on our first date until almost 2 months after meeting online, we formed a friendship which quickly became a whirlwind love affair. Together, we view ourselves as a perfect whole, each describing the other as our better half. A little over two years together we are each others best friends, partners in crime, & enduring loves. Our love is truly forever.

Three important details about our ultimate wedding.

1) Destination Wedding – Caribbean/intimate setting, overlooking the water, barefoot, calla lilies, white linens, red velvet cake, and of course, the rings.

2) Our closest friends and family celebrating our commitment over a candlelit dinner (toasts and speeches to follow).

3) Dancing the night away under the stars…. beginning with our song (Alan Jackson’s “Like Red On A Rose”) followed by a steady mix of hip hop, oldies and southern rock.

It would certainly be wonderful if a lesbian couple won this contest. Here is where you can vote for them:

    Lez Get Real,
Thank you so much for covering our story on your blog. We feel both supported and grateful that you have increased our chance to win a dream wedding by promoting us to readers everywhere. We view this opportunity as one where Equality can be given through national recognition of our engagement and marriage. We know that just by having readers view our story and pictures we change the perception on what “gay” is as well as negative stereotypes on commitments between same sex couples. We
want to give a big thank you to all of you who have voted for us. We will be forever grateful and will never end the fight for Equality.
