Republican National Committee Going Gay Baiting To Try And Get Traction Against Obama

04/06/11-by Bridgette P. LaVictoire
Jobs. . .that has been the message behind the Republican Party’s push to get into power, and the one that they are vehemently pushing even. . .oh wait, no they’re not pushing that any more. The Republican National Committee site is trying to make the claim that this is about jobs, as the name of the site would seem to suggest, but the reality is that the site is far more interested in attacking Obama on the issues of the Defense of Marriage Act and Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’s repeal.

In their attempt to be scary about what Obama has done regarding Federal funding for abortion (like rejecting the Republican’s attempts to redefine tax breaks and credits as Federal funding), his decision to abandon the defense of the Defense of Marriage Act (which is unconstitutional in several parts even to the layman legal scholar), and his decision to repeal Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell (something supported by a large majority of Americans), what they come across as is out of touch with the American people.

Simply put, if the Republicans want to redefine tax breaks and credits as Federal funding for abortion, then they need to cut off the funding of FOX News and MSNBC since their parent companies take advantage of these to increase profits.

If they want to argue about the constitutionality of DOMA, then let them waste taxpayer money on it and explain to us why they can waste money on this while the government is suppose to cut out as much frivolous spending as possible.

Let them explain to us why they want to have DADT back despite the almost 80% support that repeal has among the American population.

They want the American people to continue to punish lesbians and gays for being lesbian and gay despite growing acceptance, and are upset that Obama supports an end to Prop 8 in California and has expanded rights for LGBT Americans.

Of course, their latest attempts to endanger women’s health is framed as being a debate over “Planned Parenthood and its federal funding of abortions” when the reality is that less than ten percent of the business done by Planned Parenthood is with regards to abortions. The other 91% deals with everything from cancer to general women’s health. In other words, poor women have less rights than a collection of cells in the womb.

There are so many other examples of the lies that the RNC is desperate to hold onto because they know that they aren’t true, and that if they are exposed, then they damage the RNC badly. The RNC is in bed with extremists and hate groups. They refuse to admit this, but are more interested in providing their own information than actually fixing the problems. This is not about doing what is right, but about trying to keep power.

Just like Speaker Boehner in the House. He is desperate to make sure that he has 218 Republican votes to pass the budget rather than compromising and getting it done now.

Thanks to GayAmerica for the tip.
