It appears, Chicago Bulls center, Joakim Noah during game 3 of the Miami Heat vs. Chicago Bulls NBA finals series decided to pull a “Kobe Bryant” and set the NBA back regarding LGBT equality.
Emotions are running high with both teams wanting to advance to the finals but apparently Noah – who has admitted that he feeds of the energy of the crowd – let it slip that he is more than fine with letting the “faggot” word fly. While sitting on the bench, Noah supposedly feeling heckled by the boisterous Heat fans, couldn’t take it anymore and hurled “F**king faggot” towards one of the fans. The only difference, unlike Bryant – the slur wasn’t directed towards an NBA official.
Even though, most feel Noah is the “heart” of the Bulls – obviously, he can’t control his homophobic slur usage. He also is out of control and not used to losing but that is for another discussion.
No word on if NBA commissioner, David Stern will intervene but with how the NBA has been emphasizing its support of LGBT equality – with several key constituents coming out as gay themselves. It would be disappointing, if Stern didn’t reprimand Noah for his thoughtless actions.
Noah’s heat of the moment antics can cost his team in the end, especially if Stern – who has made it known that he is not playing when it comes to homophobia – decides to not only fine Noah but suspend him as well. Sports analyst are in favor of his being fined, with some even stating that Noah should get his checkbook ready.
Will update as the story develops.

Please get your facts straight before claiming that “several key players” have come out as gay themselves. Supporting the LGBT community is one thing, but coming out yourself is an entirely different animal. The only brave soul I believe that has is John Amaechi, who no longer plays in the NBA, and came out after his playing days had ceased. Rick Welts, the CEO and President of the Phoenix Suns recently came out, but he certainly wouldn’t qualify as a “key player.” The day this eventually comes is long overdue in my opinion, and something this groundbreaking in American sports would probably warrant more attention than simply mentioning “several key players,” a completely misleading and false statement. You are clearly in the right here, no need to make things up in an attempt to strengthen an already strong argument!

Hold on Sean, I was referring to key players within the sport and I do see a CEO of a NBA team, a ESPN radio host, and even Amaechi as key players within the gay sports movement. Not the literal “key [nba] players. Goodness gracious, before you attempt to jump down someone’s throat at least try to comprehend the article fully OR ask for clarification, instead of going off the deep end. Not to even mention the support Barkley, Nash, Dudley, Grant and Stern are showing. Nice to know that UNLESS you are a big NBA player that is the only “outing” that matters – I’m sorry with as much homophobia there is in sports – I plan to celebrate every single person that stands up (gay or otherwise) and I plan to go after those who impede that progress. My two cents!
