Doctor Who Actress Karen Gillan To Debut In West End Play

by Bridgette P. LaVictoire

When we left Amy Pond, she was reeling over the knowledge of just who her daughter is, but life for the actress who plays her on Doctor Who, Karen Gillan, has a career as an actress, and the young Scottish actress is making her professional theater debut. She will be in a West End revival of John Osborne’s 1964 play Inadmissible Evidence.

Gillan will be appearing with Douglas Hodge in the show which is set to open at the Donmar Warehouse this October. The BBC reports “Hodge plays a self-destructive lawyer, while Gillan will play his secretary.” Later this year, Gillan will also be in the BBC Four film We’ll Take Manhattan playing model Jean Shrimpton.

The BBC reports that “Dame Eileen Atkins played Gillan’s role in the original production of Osborne’s play at the Royal Court in London. Jamie Lloyd will direct the Donmar’s revival, which – according to the Daily Mail – will make “subtle cuts” to Osborne’s text.”
