The polls about raising the debt ceiling have been discouraging. It seemed that too many people just didn’t understand the issue enough to make an intelligent choice on a poll. Well, that’s finally changed.
A new NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll, being released today, shows that 55% of all Americans finally understand that not raising the debt ceiling would be a problem, 63% of Democrats, 59% of Independents and even 47% of Republicans. On the flip side, 18% say not raising the debt ceiling would have no impact on us and 33% of Tea Partiers feel it’s no problemo.
The “should we/shouldn’t/don’t know enough” numbers are still discouraging, being practically dead even for the three choices.
There is a margin of error of 3.1% on this poll of 1,000 adults.
So, anyone want to make book on how long the Republicans can ignore these numbers?
