Hurricane Ophelia Intensifies As it Heads Towards Newfoundland

Hurricane Ophelia has intensified to a Category 4 storm with winds near 135mph. It has passed east of Bermuda as it heads north towards Newfoundland. Currently, the entire Avalon Peninsula is under tropical storm watch as it is not expected that the storm is expected to pass off shore and not actually make landfall.

So far, Ophelia is the fourth hurricane of the season.

Tropical Storm Philippe is not expected to make landfall at all and will likely turn towards Europe in the coming days. It remains a tropical storm, but it has gain stength over the day.
