“Yes, we can live with that”. Alright, Rick Santorum is far less than happy with how Saturday Night Live is portraying him. Of course, the fact that he is a one issue candidate and that issue seems to be almost nothing but same-sex marriage and homosexuality, one has to wonder if he is just upset that out gays get to live their lives in happiness. He called the skit “bullying”.
SNL did a send up of the latest Republican poll. In the skit, the seating was based upon where they are in the polling, and “on the likelihood of the candidate winning the nomination.” The Hill explained that “Actors playing Herman Cain and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney were seated at the table, while Texas Gov. Rick Perry was placed in the corner of the set, Rep. Ron Paul (Texas) banished to a parking garage, former speaker Newt Gingrich (Ga.) and Rep. Michele Bachmann (Minn.) a broom closet, and Santorum ‘a crowded gay bar in the Castro district of San Francisco.’”
Santorum was portrayed by Andy Samberg, who had very little to do in the skit, and was always portrayed as being upset and uncomfortable. Of course, when asked by WGIR in New Hampshire, Santorum whined about it complaining about how the Left is always bullying the right. He stated “We’ve been hammered by the left for my standing up for the traditional family and I will continue to do so. The left, unfortunately, participates in bullying more than the right does. They say that they’re tolerant, and they’re anything but tolerant of people who disagree with them and support traditional values.”
Of course, Santorum and many on the Right claim that they are being bullied because people constantly point out that their positions are based on little more than their own beliefs and backed by nothing more than, well, opinion and have nary a fact to them. What is more, he constantly thinks that being told that he is an idiot while running around claiming that gays are going to rape children is wrong. Santorum has said that “”I welcome the criticism, go ahead. I’m going to stand up for the values that made this country great.” Except that he does not. In fact, he abhors the criticism because he thinks that it is bullying to criticize him.

*Scratches his head* Ummm, last I checked SNL has been making fun of Presidential candidates and Presidents on all sides for 36 years. So it’s not as if the republicans are the only ones that have ever been skewered by them.
